Northern Ontario,
Social scientist= another do nothing position for a lazy individual...that gathers information from people to tell them what to do....

Very similar to a job I was offered when I was about to retire...

Consultant.....
When they described what the job entailed ....I told them no thanks
Since what a consultant does is the equivalent of borrowing your watch to tell you the time

There is no question that when we have today more people living in poverty than at any time in American history and when millions of families are struggling day by day just to keep their heads above water, we need to move aggressively to protect the dignity and well being of the least among us. Tragically, with cuts in food stamps, unemployment compensation and other important benefits, we are moving in exactly the wrong direction. There are a number of ways by which we can make sure that every man, woman and child in our country has at least a minimum standard of living and [unconditional basic income] is certainly something that must be explored.

Bernie Sanders

Robert Reich calls for a 'Minimum Basic Income for All' in his facebook post this morning.

What is probably more important is rating the value of all jobs giving them a factor according to 8 or 10 criteria, such as responsibility level, education required, level of skills, working in adverse conditions including, weather, terrain, etc. hazard level, physical effort required, steadiness of employment, etc. etc. etc. Once the factor is determined, then that can be applied to a base rate to arrive at a wage.

proof that all society needs to do is to increase minimum wage as it along with social safety nets provide economic viability

Unfortunately very few of us will live to infinity. :)

In 1970.

500 owned as much wealth as the bottom half of the population.

In 2016.

62 own as much wealth as the bottom half.

It's just a matter of time that one person wins the game and owns everything, and all the wealth. And then capitalism will have effectively destroyed itself.

Who do ya think that 1 person will hire for, well, everything they need?... Now, by your definition, they do not 'own' all the wealth.

Your base premise is flawed

Who needs to hire someone once all the robots are built to produce and maintain everything?

It's a mathematical certainty. Like monopoly. Someone will someday own everything, produce everything, without the need of anyone. And effectively destroy the system of capitalism in the process, by wining the game.

Once we have that. The system will have to be changed to work again. It will be some form of socialism.

Maybe not Cliffy- over time the price of the products will likely fall in line with the money available to buy them. You've heard the expression "half a loaf is better than no loaf". :)

All the robots will eventually need a maintenance man.

All the robots will eventually need a maintenance man.

Yes but the goal of capitalism will be to lower the cost even more, by..... Eliminating the maintenance man by making it a..... Maintenance robot.
And then capitalism will.... Lower cost by? Making the robot making man into, a robot making robot.

It's a mathematical certainty that capitalism will destroy itself over a period of time of infinity.

Capitalism is a competition. It's a economic game.

Someone has to eventually win.
When someone wins the game is over.

What humanity will be left with. Is one world organization that can produce everything for everyone in the most efficient way ever possible. Socialism shouldn't have a problem working with a organism like that arround.
