When you were providing heavy mechanic services to your clients, were you 'partners'?..
Nope. It sure as fµck didn't make me a logging company either. It made me a temporary employee under contract to perform a service.
Was it a Joint Venture?
Nope. The logging company's purpose is to collect and deliver logs to a mill. My purpose is to repair the logging company's equipment. Two totally different but connected purposes.

Yeah right. Publicity articles are always eztremely accurate. uhuh If you believe that, I have a bit of land to sell you: http://www.leelau.net/2005/sme/day4symphony/viewfromsymphonypeaksirdouglas01.jpg
Legally, there's a difference between "joint venture" and " partnership". But that's not the part I was saying was spin. If the contract said they were partners, they were partners. If not, they weren't. Like I said, without reading the contract, Karrie's guess at what the publicity article meant is as good as yours.
No Les. It's a partnership in every business sense of the word.

You're applying street logic in the realm of legalese.

The shareholder's release corroborates what I took from the publicity release. Unless you're implying that EnCana lies to their shareholders too, and the Dene are really 'an oil company', despite everything I've posted, and Les has posted, and every scrap of common sense in between.

Dromedary dung it is. Without the contract's actual terminology, anyone's guess is good.

Sounds almost racist, doesn't it?

I'll betcha that they're racists, every last one of 'em that are impudent enough to disagree.

Yeah - probably racisis
Oh, jeeez. It's got sfa to do with racism. You and Petros sure like to toss in red herrings and strawmen.

JV contracts don't need glossaries for the signatory participants.

Yeah the racism is a real treat to deal with when working the remote communities. I've got bullet holes up in the spools on my drills to prove it.

Bbbbbbut, weren't you 2 going on about how natives were being told to shut up and and smile and accept whatever 'we' give them? That sure sounds like someone is being racist to me.

... Then again, maybe I'm wrong.... Tell me, what were you agreeing to when this was posted?:

Anything and everything to try to say that the natives ought to shut up and smile and accept whatever 'we' give them.

Trying to apply what I've said about petros' argument (is he not saying that they should shut up? He's said it a half dozen different ways with a half dozen different reasons behind his argument), to everyone's arguments, is flawed. But, if the shoe fits, as my cousin so eloquently says, lace that bi tch up and wear it.

Karrie's comment was sarcastic and directed at you two and you know it.

Explanations of terms that could be interpreted in more than one way are always included. Sometimes they are in the form of a glossary, sometimes not.

You sure it was those nasty, evil natives that put bullet holes in your spools and not just any old hunters or even kids just looking for any old target?

"oh, that thing belongs to that whitey so let's shoot it". lmao

A bit sarcastic you bet, but no, pretty much just aimed at petros' argument. :)

Fire away and keep on missing your target. It doesn't bother me any.

Yup. it was because I wouldn't hire a guy who pisses his pants. That made me the "evil f*ckin' whitie".

Ah, more 'I didn't say what you read I said'.

They're only complaining to extort money for new pickups. They don't actually care about their enviro or hunting grounds. They light fires on purpose to create summer jobs for themselves. They're really truly a secret oil company. I could go on.

And we're still wtf off topic. So all your sputtering about partnerships, greedy natives, etc. is flatout red herring.

But, but, if we actually focus on the fact that oil companies are pouring waste water into muskeg out of a 5 year old pipeline that apparently has no safety features to prevent the misplacement of 9.5 million litres of fluid, people might start to realize how flawed some of our future plans are.

Then why don't you? Greed and corruption are traits that know no racial boundaries but if your prerogative is to make it a racial comment fill your boots sunshine.

Seems to me that the only folks making references to greedy natives and pseudo claims of racism have been you 2.

... And the reality is this - The Dene have hopefully negotiated a deal that sees them receiving a direct participation in the actual production of the oil on their land. Commonly organized as a GORR, it translates into them realizing an ongoing revenue stream based on the extraction, production and sale of the oil.... Now, before anyone gets their panties in a bunch over this, what is described just now is above and beyond the drilling revenues they make.

So, with this in mind, do the Dene also have an entity that profits directly from the extraction, production and sale of the oil? And if so - what would you call it?... A hardware store?
