Gerika Mudra, 18, accuses Buffalo Wild Wings of discrimination after server followed her into the washroom and forced her to prove she is a girl. Gender Justice
A young Minnesota woman has accused a Buffalo Wild Wings server of following her to the washroom and forcing her to “prove” she is a girl.

Gerika Mudra, 18, has filed a discrimination complaint against the restaurant alleging an employee trailed her to the bathroom and wouldn’t stop harassing her until the teen unzipped her hoodie to “prove” she is female.

On Tuesday, Gender Justice filed a charge of discrimination with the Minnesota Department of Human Rights (MDHR) on behalf of the high school student, according to a press release from the nonprofit.

Mudra, a lesbian who is not transgender, according to NBC News, was eating at the restaurant chain’s Owatonna location when she got up to use the bathroom.

In a video released by Gender Justice, the teen said the server followed her into the bathroom, banged on the stall door and yelled, “This is a women’s restroom, the man needs to get out.”

Mudra, who said this wasn’t “the first time something like this happened” to her, claimed she told the server, “I am a lady,” but the worker wasn’t buying it.

When the teen tried to leave, the employee blocked her and demanded she “prove” she was a girl, according to the release.

Only after Mudra unzipped her hoodie to show she had breasts did the server back off.

Mudra, who was wearing a shirt underneath the hoodie, said the server “just walked out, didn’t even apologize or anything.”

Mudra said she won’t return to restaurant and no longer feels comfortable using public bathrooms in general.

“We know Gerika was targeted because of how she looks,” Shauna Otterness, Mudra’s stepmom, said.

“She didn’t do anything wrong. She just didn’t fit what that server thought a girl should look like,” Otterness continued.

“I was shocked and heartbroken by how many people shared similar stories after I posted about it online,” she added. “This shouldn’t be normal. We can do better, and we have to.”

Sara Jane Baldwin, senior staff attorney at the advocacy group, slammed the restaurant, calling what happened to Mudra, who is biracial, “was not just wrong, it was unlawful.”

She added: “Minnesota law protects people from exactly this kind of discrimination in public spaces. No one should be harassed, humiliated, or forced to prove themselves just to use the bathroom.”

Yet more proof the "Trans Panic" is dangerous to ALL women, not just trans women.

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 forbids discrimination on the bases of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin in employment, education, or places of public accommodation. Which means "MEN" and "WOMEN" washrooms are every bit as unlawful as "WHITE" and "COLORED" washrooms.

Could be a nice payday for the student. Consult a civil rights lawyer.

They have, a couple of times. The judges wisely dismissed the cases.

Question - where's your outrage for the woman who demanded the student to prove that she was the gender she is? Isn't that, you know, harassment of a "Real woman" in your eyes? Which is the reason why the "no trans women in women's bathrooms" is a thing for you? To stop said harassment (that wasn't really happening until the anti-trans freaks MADE it a thing?)

Smart judge.
The one I remember most clearly was a couple of decades back, when a pair of women, frustrated by the women's-room queue at Texas Stadium, went into the men's. Some Rhodes scholar cops arrested them. When it got to court, the judge noted the provisions of the Civil Rights Act, and told the DA "I'm not going anywhere near this. Charges dismissed."

Canadian flag removal for Pride flag at Carney's office raises questions
Either way Intersex-Inclusive Pride Flag now flies on one side of Prime Minister's Office in Ottawa while the maple leaf flag flies on the other

The Canadian flag being removed from the front entrance of the Prime Minister’s Office in Ottawa and replaced with the intersex-inclusive Pride flag raised eyebrows of people walking by Friday.

As captured in video by Dacey Media, you can hear some expressing displeasure as crews on top of a small construction lift on the back of a truck, took down the Maple Leaf on a small flagpole and replaced it with the multi-coloured flag.

Until then, there had been a Canadian flag on each side of the front door of the most powerful office in the land, on Wellington St., across the Parliament Hill. Today, there is a Canadian flag on the left side and the Pride flag on the right.

There is no record of Canadians voting to share the spotlight of the country with Pride or any other activist or charity organization. There certainly has not been a vote by MPs in the House of Commons to make another flag equal to Canada’s outside the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

This was a flag raising and removal that raises questions: Why take a Canadian flag down in front of the PMO and swap in something else? What is the reason for doing so? Who approved this?

The PMO has not so far responded. Ottawa’s Capital Pride has also not so far commented. There is nothing as of this filing about this flag being displayed at the PMO or on government or Pride websites.

Prime Minister Mark Carney has not posted about this on either of his X accounts.

But back on June 10, on the Canadian PM X account, is a photograph of Carney raising Pride flags at Parliament Hill with the message to celebrate “pride season.” It stated “today, Prime Minister Mark Carney joined Canadians at the Pride Flag Raising Ceremony. As we raise our voices — and our flags — we celebrate 2SLGBTQI+ communities and remain committed to building a Canada where everyone can live freely and with #pride.”

Raising a flag in support of an event is in keeping with Canadian tradition.

But taking down a Canadian flag to put up something in its place, and doing so at the PMO, is different than raising it at a city hall or provincial government building. A look at the Canadian Heritage website which oversees flag protocol doesn’t specifically cover lowering a Canadian flag and raising something else in its place.

But it does say “the national flag must be flown at all federal government buildings, airports, as well as military bases and establishments within and outside Canada.”

It also states “the national flag of Canada always takes precedence over all other national flags when flown on Canadian soil. Therefore, it should always be placed in the position of honour.”

The appropriate position of honour is to ensure the Maple Leaf is always to the left of the flag its sharing the stage with. While the site does mention the Union Jack, the King’s flag and also NATO, Commonwealth and United Nations flags, it does not mention Pride or any other private organization.

But this is not the first time a Pride flag has been given prominence at a Canadian government office or shared the space.

For example, as the Toronto Sun reported in June, at Canada’s embassy in Hong Kong, it was noticed a Pride-Maple Leaf hybrid flag was displayed in the front lobby along with the Canadian flag – along with a government social media posting a picture of the altered flag. The federal government’s @canada social media account — with more than a million followers — displayed this flag and wrote “in Canada we know that diversity is our strength and we love to celebrate it,” and “this #BeingYouDay, let it be a reminder to be authentically yourself and celebrate all the things that make you, YOU!”

Back in December, the mayor of Emo Township in Northwestern Ontario, was ordered to pay a $5,000 fine, says it was garnashed from his bank account and he was ordered to take sensitivity training (all being appealed) after council voted to not fly a rainbow flag in front of its town hall.

It’s unclear who made the decision to fly this new Pride flag in front of the PMO or what transpired behind the scenes. Was this something Carney decided to do in support or was there a risk of being fined?

Whatever the back story is, if a flag that is not Canada’s is going to be installed while the Maple Leaf comes down, there should be a debate on it in Parliament and a vote taken on the matter. The PMO is not a private office but located in a building that belongs to all Canadians.

While Carney has not yet commented on the flag outside his office, at the Vancouver Pride parade on Aug. 3, he told reporters the event signifies “the “essence of Canada,” and “thrilled to be a part of it,” he called the parade a “celebration” which is “what is great about our country.”

While it’s still not confirmed whether this flag is being flown in honour of the Capital Pride Week, it’s clear the Pride flag is sitting outside the PMO on one side of the front door while the Canadian flag is on the other.

Public servants are expected to enjoy a whole range of work-hour events including drag queen bingo.

As Monday kicks off Public Service Pride Week, public servants are expected to enjoy a whole range of work-hour events including drag queen bingo.

As reported Monday by Blacklock’s Reporter, officials at the Immigration Department — who are hosting the affair — declined to comment on the event, which is being held at an undisclosed cost.

“Join us for an afternoon of glitz, giggles and outrageous fun at Drag Bingo!” read the notice for Thursday’s event, hosted by noted Canadian drag queens Sunshine Glitterchild sand Saltina Shaker.

“Bring your lucky charms, your loudest cheers and your best bingo face, it’s going to be an event to remember!”

The event will also feature a “pride potluck” and meet-and-greet with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) Director-General Emmanuelle Deault-Bonin.

The week is packed with work-hour events, seminars and conferences, Blacklock’s Reporter reported, including a Tuesday presentation by IRCC, entitled Unity in Diversity, promising to look “beyond microaggressions to focus on actionable tools that foster real belonging in the workplace,” and that participants should expect to learn how to “affirm distinctiveness and cultivate environments of respect and psychological safety,” and examine “signs of cumulative harm and discuss how to recognize and interrupt them.”

Canada's spy agency CSIS celebrating sexual diversity this week with Pride
But many Canadians are asking if this should be the priority of the country's intelligence service?

Just call this the Spy Who Loved Pride Season!

But this is no James Bond movie but real-life Canadian trade craft intelligence gathering.

It seems at CSIS (Canadian Security Intelligence Service) the focus is not only on assessing threats to the country from terrorists but also “on how to continue celebrating Public Service Pride Week (#PSPW2025) with activities throughout this week.”

For example, during this Pride week, CSIS shared a link on its Facebook page that indicated amongst the workshops there was one called “Science is a Drag, presented by the Gender and Sexual Diversity Network and the Science and Research Integration Network” and “Your Body, Your Rules, Rewriting Beauty Standards Approaching Midlife and Beyond, Together” as put on by My Menopause at Work and “Queer Queries on Queen, Pride Trivia.”

And don’t forget the “Queer Acts of Love and Resistance Live Panel” and the “Pride Potluck Picnic.”

Canadian flag with Pride colours
Canadian flag with Pride colours
Move over John le Carre. Just call this thriller From Canada With Love. Certainly, in recent times, the Canadian government has been all in on Pride in 2025. In June, Prime Minister Mark Carney and others raised a Pride flag at Parliament Hill, there was also one put up last week at the front door of his Wellington Street office, and altered Canadian flags have been on display in embassies around the world.

On their X account, CSIS boasts: “Back in June, CSIS launched its #PrideSeason celebrations with a few guest speakers” including “talented Two-spirit hoop dancer Makhena Ranken Guerin, the hilarious Canadian comedienne Ava Val, and inspirational public servant David Da Silva for visiting, performing and speaking at CSIS NHQ!”

For background, Makhena Ranken Guerin is “a Two-Spirit hoop dancer with Anishinaabe/Algonquin roots on her mother’s side and French Canadian roots on her father’s side. As a member of the Abitibiwinni First Nation, Makhena is dedicated to preserving and continuing her Indigenous culture for future generations. She has been practicing traditional hoop dance for over 7 years; a medicinal dance that tells a story. Traditionally, this dance was performed with willow branch hoops to the rhythm of traditional drums. Nowadays, dancers often use modern materials and frequently perform to contemporary music.”

In an online bio, award-winning comedian Ava Val wrote, “I’m a MTF trans comic” whose “style is high-energy, physical comedy with a plethora of original voices and characters.”

And a bio say Canadian diplomat David Da Silva “specialized in managing in challenging environments abroad. Postings in the Philippines, Lebanon, Venezuela, Kenya, and the Occupied Palestinian Territory. Experience in project management, democratic development, human rights, public affairs, digital diplomacy, policy development, crisis management, and security. English, French, Spanish. Basic Arabic and German,” and in an X post in October of last year said “friends, with the end of my term, I am stepping away to take time off. I will return to work in Ottawa in the new year, on new files. I am aware that millions of Palestinians, and others in the region, do not have this luxury.”

Each of these guests of the spy agency seem to have the skills to make a very good agent.

So who knows what’s really going on here? Maybe this was a recruiting exercise — CSIS is pretty good at blending in. For example, on its website, CSIS says “our vision” is “a safe, secure and prosperous Canada, through trusted intelligence and advice.”

Posted to social media by Dacey Media, this image shows workers taking down a Canadian flag and putting up the Pride flag at the Prime Minister's Office in Ottawa.

Many people responding to their X post seem to think their Pride week support is not fulfilling their mandate.

“Just be an intelligence agency. No one needs CSIS to launch Pride celebrations,” wrote one person.

Another added: “We don’t care about this garbage. And what the hell does it have to do with national security? You people are disgusting disgrace.”

Others asked how the probe is going on who the MPs were who were allegedly compromised by the Chinese government. Others referenced last year’s resignation of CSIS director David Vigneault from the top job after “one of the most challenging and rewarding period in my career” which included the Chinese interference allegations and complaints of sexual violence perpetrated on some of the female staff in sections of the agency he was overseeing.

The federal espionage agency’s page says: “CSIS is at the forefront of Canada’s national security system. Our role is to investigate activities suspected of constituting threats to the security of Canada and to report on these to the Government of Canada. We may also take measures to reduce threats to the security of Canada in accordance with well-defined legal requirements and Ministerial Direction.”

But this week these spies are celebrating with Pride.
