But prior to that, it's teachers, friends or other parents who may notice problems with a kid, especially if they go to school.

Here's a question, what if the child's parents are abusive because the kid is/might be gay/trans? And abusive goes anywhere from physical to emotional abuse.

They write a concern to child services that do the investigation, the teacher doesn't do the investigation, do you see how it suppose to work?

The teacher observes, doesn't interfere, child services investigates and intervenes if necessary

Except now the kids can't mention gay, trans or anything like that in the classroom. If they do, parents are informed.

See how it works?

No one said the teacher interferes. But what is happening is kids who may be in danger are being kept in danger, if not increased, because of the wording of the law currently.

For gays, it's perfectly normal.

It IS about your preferences, because you are the one with the issue. As pointed out, gays, bis, Trans people and so on have existed since pre-history. Your problem is you are confusing "common" with "normal".

Why is it offensive? Because you are saying gay people (and others) aren't normal.

You are saying gay people shouldn't have a right to exist.

By not being 'normal', gays et al are "other" and thus not worth as much.
