I would imagine when a person undergoes open heart surgery, the operation and meds are just the tip of the ice berg as far as expenses go. There could be transportation costs, costs for accommodations during recover, costs associated with care of and maintenance of your home while you are away, probably some restaurant meals, long distance phone calls etc. etc. etc.

Thats exactly it,also some of the meds are not covered as outpatient stuff and having to live in Edmonton after surgery for a few months for follow up tests.

Yah,I have a friend here in Canada that has to pick bottles and fund raise for her double lung transplant.

I just shake my head sometimes at the world and what it has become.

Thanks for the neg rep Tay,hope you never have to go pick bottles to stay alive and see 5 of your kids at least finish school.

There! I offset that with a +1. I really do hope that she can get the transplants that she so desperately needs someday soon.
