Who’s Winning the Social Media Midterms?

October 19, 2018 at 4:00 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 14 Comments

“After President Trump’s popularity on social media helped propel him to an upset victory in 2016, Democrats vowed to catch up. Two years later, their efforts appear to be paying off. A New York Times analysis of data from the Facebook and Instagram accounts of hundreds of candidates in next month’s midterm elections reveals that Democrats — and especially Democrats running for House seats — enjoy a sizable national lead in engagement on the two influential platforms.”

So, if the voters have already been influenced by the Russian disinformation via social media...........how valid is their vote?? We have already seen that critical thinking is not the US voter's sting suit.

Justice Dept. charges Russian woman for her alleged role in a conspiracy to interfere in the 2018 midterm elections

The Justice Department charged Elena Khusyaynova for allegedly taking part in a plot to interfere in the 2018 U.S. election by managing the finances of "Project Lakhta," a foreign influence operation funded by Russian oligarch Yeveniy Viktorovich Prigozhin and two companies he controls.

A 38-page criminal complaint against Khusyaynova details expenses laid out to pay activists, promote news postings on social media, and pay for social media advertisements, domain names and proxy servers.

The Russian oligarchs have too much to lose if the house is overturned and Trump becomes a lame duck.
No problem. The British financial services will be looking for action post-brexit and they can become the Russian money launderers of choice, then.

The US has too much to lose if the Dems win the house.
What would they lose I wonder?

The only thing they have managed with a 50 seat majority is tax cuts for the wealthy.

Healthcare remains an impossible task for a republican congress to address.

The republicans maintaining control of congress simply ensures another two years of nothing burger politics

Don't matter. Only one poll matters, and that's 6 Nov.

The American Heartland voted in Trump, and in a way they remind me of Boxer from the novel Animal Farm.

Boxer was promised by the Pigs, like the Democrats did to all of them...work harder...no one left behind...and you'll eventually enjoy the fruits of your labour.

But the Pigs just got richer while poor Boxer got sent to the glue factory.
