Bo sacked like the first time in forever.......Dickenson challenges that there was unnecessary roughness........loses that and a timeout......Calgary has to punt...ball comes out of the end zone....stamps tagged 5 for no yards then another 10 as their kicker comes off the sidelines to shove an Ottawa player in the back

Stamps get their own back when Charleston Hughes gets to Hank for a loss of yards and the down

Stamp punt returner fumbles the ball, Ottawa recovers.....flag on the play....... now the play is under review........illegal block Calgary, penalty declined - Ottawa gets the ball in Stamp territory

Many years ago I would follow and root for the Hamilton Tigercats I think they were called because Frank Kush was coach. If you're not familiar with coach Kush , he coached Arizona State University football for the longest time and they were winners with a wide open offense. I even would sit out in my moms car on a saturday night and listen to them play if I couldn't go to the game. He was fired after over 25 years of coaching because he slapped a punter upside the helmet for punting lousy and the pansy and his dad sued the University. Sun Devils ain't been the same since.

Hell when I was at practice for high school football I started throwing up during full pad wind sprints. Damn it was hot. I told coach and he said , " go get a good load out and finish your sprints". I should have sued the school for abuse maybe coulda got some cash like that pansy punter and had an old veteren coaches job.

Though the Riders are my team forever, the Cats are my favorite Eastern team. The only time I don't cheer for them is when they play my guys.

RBs make good on the TO, get a TD on the drive and after the convert, they lead 17 - 7 in the 2nd Q.

Bo just got intercepted by Ottawa's Hightower....

Ottawa's Van fumbles the ball and the Stamps recover

Hamilton is a good, honest hard working town with a good, honest hard working ball team. Smaller markets like that are better supported by the residents. Toronto has five professional sports teams, an NFL team an hour down the road and the Argos are just another "sports entertainment product" around here.

wherever i sit down my ars
The Canadian game is different. With only three downs and a longer, wider field, it is a passing "air" game, far more than the American bulldozing ground game. Just different, not better, worse.
I watched some Canadian football many years ago on TV . It was pretty good . Lots of wide open offense . Naturally I rooted for the Tigercats.

Smaller markets are the key, CC. I really think it is the only way the league will survive. The Argos weren't the only team lacking in fan support. It is also the reason why I feel that a CFL team somewhere in the Maritimes would work.

On the final play of the opening half, Ottawa put 3 more on the board off the foot of Early ........and take a 13 point lead into half-time. I don't imagine Calgary fans saw this coming..............frankly, neither did I. Ottawa got some lucky breaks but they made sure they capitalized on them. For the first time in a long time Bo Levi looks human out there and the Calgary D is managing to shut down Ottawa's running game but have no answer on how to contain Hank.

Sinopoli with a nice dive across the goal-line gets another 6 for Ottawa............Early's good on the convert and the RBs lead by 20.......putting Calgary in its biggest hole of the year.

Stamps have to settle for a FG..........and once again the Stamps miss big on a play call with the ball no where near any player on the field.

27 - 10 Ottawa in the 3rd

the polls were wrong.

The fact is nearly every single stat favored the Stamps Loc......they led the league in so many offensive and defensive categories I'd be an hour listing them. Can't blame folks for giving the the odds.

No way I'm counting them out though.............they have proven to be way to wily to do that.

There you go...................Stamps just got a TD........though they are once again holding up the game while they do a review to see if either Ottawa defender touched the player...........if not, the TD is good. We await the decision from the Command Center.............ruling stands ..........TD Calgary............converts good and the lead is narrowed to 10 for Ottawa

Ottawa catches a break when the punt returner fumbles the ball but is ruled down by contact

Two consecutive 2 and outs for Ottawa and the Stamps are once again taking advantage scoring their 5th TD of the game..........Parades misses on the convert attempt and the Ottawa lead has narrowed to 5

Well that could be the turning point in the game......Hank just through a pass right into the arms of a Stamp defender ..........no flags and the Stamps have the ball

Ottawa D comes up big..............sack Bo and force 3rd down kick........Ottawa has to put more points on the board right now

Just under 9 minutes left in the 4th

Ottawa battles back, gets a TD but the convert is a miss........the RBs open the lead to 10 with under 6 minutes to go.

Bo has been picked off for the 3rd time in the game......Ottawa has the ball with 2:54 on the clock

Ottawa unable to convert on 2 and 8 and forced to kick

Stamps put another 6 on the board after facing 3 and 2 when McDaniels takes the long route to the end zone........and the RBs are hanging on by 3 points to the lead

Offside kick and the Stamps come up with the ball...............with 1:36 left

Stamps in FG range and have a first down with 1:03 left

Defensive pass interference call against Ottawa gives Stamps the ball at the 8........Messam bulls his way to the 2nd on the next play.......Bo keeps the ball himself but is tracked down at the 5 yard line ...............Paredes out to kick .........FG is good......and the game is tied.......looks like OT is in the offing

Calgary wins the toss again and will play defence first.........teams must match each others points.......if TD scored team must go for 2 point convert

Earnest Jackson TD.........but they miss on the convert

Redblacks win the grey cup!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is what I call an upset

Congratulations to the Ottawa Redblacks for overcoming all the odds against them and winning the 104th Grey Cup. Well done.

In pretty much any activity I generally root for the West! Was it time perhaps Cowtown got a wake up call?

This will be felt as a stunning defeat not only by the team and management. Fans and the owners will share that feeling and the latter will be asking some hard questions.

They were the best team in the entire league without a doubt and yet in the biggest game, the most important game of the season they came up short. Bo Levi barely lived up to his MVP status throwing 3 interceptions in the game after having thrown only 8 during the entire regular and post season. The Stamps defence though able to contain Ottawa's running game were never able to shut Hank down tonight.

This was Hank's night and he shone. I am so happy for him ..........now he can burn the chip.

Exciting game though a bit long. Kudos to journeyman QB Henry Burris for having a sterling game: 465 yards, 3 TDs, and 2 rushing TDs.

And the Grey Cup MVP................good on Smilin Hank.

I believe Talloola has said several times that on any given day any team can win or lose...................maybe she was thinking more of the hockey context! I think it can apply to pretty much any endeavour.

Sometimes when a team is far and away the superior team throughout the season, they get to the big game and believe their own press clippings and forget (just for that little bit) what got them there. In reality there isn't much difference between the best and worst teams in a given league but that little difference will add up to Ws vs Ls. So a good team lets off just a little bit they can be beaten. In these scenarios, coaching is usually the obvious culprit.

Probably happens much more often where the playoff format is a single game. A lot of time with hockey the underdog will take the first one or two games and then they run out of steam.
