The Redblacks being the home-team, have my support today.

Quick trip to the field then off for the Esks as the RB D stepped up

RBs follow that with a quick trip of their own

I really feel for the players on both teams - it is so slippery on the field and the ball can't be any better. Really poor conditions for a Division final and even more reason to hold them in covered stadiums............though I know my opinion will not be shared by all.

Game has come down to a battle of field position by the kickers who are having struggles of their own

You go LaFrance..........................huge gain puts the RBs in great field position

Hanks takes advantage on the next play finding Ellingson for the TD.............convert misses

9 - 0 RB

Edmonton should check out what the RB's footwear....................Ottawa having no problem running with the ball

That little Lafrance (27 - former Manitoba Bison) is putting up some great yardage numbers for the RBs - 3 consecutive first down runs for the kid.............

RBs just got another TD...............Good Hank has most definitely shown up for the game today...........Lafrance puts two more on the board and Ottawa is looking pretty good here in the 2nd Q. That was a 7-play - 93 yard drive.

17 - 0 Ottawa

After a huge pass reception to open their drive, the Eskimos once again come up short of the end zone..........try a sneak play resulting in a time count violation but Sean White manages to put 3 on the board for the team with a nice little 33-yarder through the uprights.

17 - 3 Ottawa in the 2nd Q

Great return on the punt puts the RBs in Edmonton territory on the first play of their drive

The Redblacks have 11 first down compared to 3 for the Eskimos

Ottawa facing 3 and 11.......leave Hank in the game.........he connects with Ellingson again with what looks like either a catch on the goal line or in the end zone............but Ottawa is called for offside and the RBs are forced to kick

The first punt of the game for the RBs is a poor effort off the side of the kicker's foot but again, the Eskimos are unable to capitalize on field position as the RBs defence continue to stymie all efforts.

Oh, oh............fumbled ball on return but RBs manage to secure it

Bet his former Bison team mates back home are loudly cheering on Lafrance.......Ottawa will be heading into half-time with a nice lead in good part due to his efforts

He's put up 100 yards on the ground in just the first half

Ottawa takes two huge idiotic penalties following a pass interception that saw the Eskimos with their first TO of the game. RBs give up another 10 yards to the Esks putting them in Ottawa territory..................and again come up short on the drive after a beautiful defensive play by Ottawa

From the 42, White misses on the FG............Ottawa decides to run the ball out.........penalized again and will start around the 5 - can't see the markings on the field so am just guessing........with :55 seconds left in the half

Hank finds his reciever for the first down and Esks score another 10 yards after an illegal contact call on the Esks

Ottawa player down on the field...........'writhing and twisting in agony'........'boy that doesn't look good'.......as uttered by the inimitable Rod Black - never one to leave a missed opportunity for hyperbole nor understatement on the field.

Half-time folks......

17 Ottawa - 3 Edmonton

Second half just getting underway and the conditions are just as bad.........if not a tad worse.......oops looks like there will be a delay while officials re-paint the sideline boundaries..........looks like the nozzle on the paint sprayer is frozen up..........this is so Canadian

Meanwhile............other field crew are busy shoveling off the yard lines so the guys at least have clue where they are out there........good luck to officials trying to find anything in between.............oh this is hilarious.........they have resorted to using paint brushes for the lines...if for nothing less, the reason for the delay will definitely make high-light reels..........they are also putting down markers

Okay....we're ready for the kick-off..........now the ball won't stand up in the holder........LOL!

Geez you could skidoo on the field

Ottawa defence hands the Esks a speedy 2 and out

Hank at the half: 8 of 13 for 135 yards, 2 TDs, 1 interception

Wide open................17 yard gain for Ottawa........wide frickin' open Edmonton, sheesh..........where's the defence?........not complaining mind you......

Ottawa comes up short and Ray Early comes in to punt

I can't tell where the Eskimos are starting from exactly and the game announcers are no help at all............gather they (Esks) are in their own zone after the punt return....................doesn't matter as they end up no where near the end zone and are forced to punt

Good old reliable JC Sherritt leading the way for the Edmonton defence forces the RBs to 2 and out

It's become a bit of a defensive battle early in the 2nd half

Give those guys (Eskimos) some Red Bull fps.............they need something to get them in this game....really unimpressed with the team today.

They used red paint on the sidelines.............some of the players must have picked it up and now it looks like there is blood on the snow in places

Outfrickin' standing punt return........Tristan Jackson just took it to the house, Hank follows that up with the 2-point convert to Dubois and Ottawa is smokin' the Eskimos

25 - 3 with just over 2 minutes left in the 3rd

What an outstanding run by Sean White to put the Esks first and goal.........lost track of the defenders he left in his wake

Next play, not so much........on the following one, Reilly finds Bowman in the end zone and the Esks get their first major of the game. White is good on the convert ...........Esks trail by 15

Hank fumbles the hand-off ............Esks recover.......Mike's first pass batted down by Ottawa defender.......Reilly finds Walker who is finally brought down around the 20 of Ottawa..........sit up folks ...........this game just got interesting..................Reilly to Getz.........TD Edmonton

Esks narrow RB lead to 8

Ottawa's punt return fumbled, Esks recover

Edmonton pushes their luck, come up short on 3 and 10 and Ottawa gets the ball back with little change in field position

Hank connects with Crider? for a huge gain ....Sinopoli in hand fight with defender misses the catch........no flag on play .......Ottawa decides to challenge pass interference............big call on the line.....ruling stands............Ottawa loses a time-out

Great kick by Erly.............quick downfield defence and the Esks are pinned on their 2 yard line

Facing 105 yards, Esks get 3 on the first play.................Reilly's pass knocked down by the Ottawa player with the dreadlocks............3 and 7 .............Shaw in the end zone for the kick against the wind, punts it out of bounds........tagged with a 10 yard penalty.........Ottawa gets the ball in Edmonton territory

Two missed passes and Ottawa will have to settle for the 3 points this time...........Early (spelling correction of name) is good it's a 2 possession game with just over 4 minutes left in the 4th

3rd and 5........................and Mike finds Adarius Bowman for a spectacular 35 yard unopposed run to the end zone.........going for the 2-point convert................and Bowman can't hold on............the lead has shrunk to 5 for Ottawa

Payton manages to hold on to the ball on the return this time..................Lafrance having no joy here in the second half..........2 and 9 and Hank delivers a missile to #86 for the first down..........Lafrance held to 1 again.............2nd and 9....and Hank finds Ernest Jackson for another first down and they are slowly eating up the clock....and finally Lafrance is able to break through for another huge gain.........less than a minute left..........flag on the play....5 yards against Ottawa.........1rst and 15...........Lafrance manages about 4 or 5..........Edmonton taking a time-out............and that little bugger fights his way through the Eskimos defenders right into the end zone.........well deserved reward for all his efforts today.....and that will be the ball game folks.... no way for Esks to comeback now

:07 final play.............Reilly goes down under a blanket of Ottawa defenders.........:02.......and Mike throws the ball all the way through the end zone.............Ottawa is going to the Grey Cup, again.

Player of the Game - #27 Kienan Lafrance

Figured the Stamps vs Lions game may be a bit one-sided considering the powerhouse team that Calgary has proven to be under the leadership of QB Bo Mitchell and so far, it appears as if I was right as the Stamps lead the Lions 25 - 0 with half-time just moments away.

Oops make that 32 to 0 as the Stamps intercept Jennings and take the ball back all the way for another TD followed by the 1-point convert.

Lulay replaces Jennings and promptly puts 6 points on the board for the Lions..........they missed on the 2-point convert.

The Stampeders maintained their supremacy in the West and will book a trip to the Grey Cup next week after they dashed all hopes of a Lion's victory by handing them a 42 - 15 beating.

Too-good Grey Cup pizza promotion pulled by CFL

It’s like 1996 all over again - or at least it was for a minute.
Twenty years after Hamilton Grey Cup organizers slashed ticket prices dramatically in an effort to fill Ivor Wynne Stadium a week before the game, Steeltown was the site for another deep discount on CFL championship tickets.
3downnation.com reported on Thursday that Pizza Pizza locations in the Hamilton area were advertising a $29.99 special that included Grey Cup tickets for the game between the Ottawa Redblacks and Calgary Stampeders at BMO Field in Toronto on Sunday.
The deal featured a large pizza with three toppings, 10 chicken wings, four cans of pop, two dipping sauces and two tickets to the 104th Grey Cup. The ad stated that each location had only 15 pairs of tickets.
The CFL said in a statement the promotion was pulled after the league discovered the deal. The CFL said Pizza Pizza was not authorized to offer the deal.
Organizers announced earlier this week that 2,000 tickets remained at the 35,000-seat facility, but discounted tickets have hit various workplaces in recent weeks. Prices already were cut at the box office last month when it became clear the event was going to be a tough sell.
Face value of tickets ranges from $89 for temporary end-zone seats to $899 for seats on the field.

I for one will not go if tickets are $89/ticket for cheap seats and no 'good' team will be there.

Why bother with eastern stadiums holding the Grey Cup? If they can't get 12,000 people to an Argos games, what make the CFL think they can get 30,000 to a Grey Cup in Toronto?

I don't follow it at all. It's like watching paint day!

The "Ottawa Maroons" would make a lot more sense and quite descriptive sounding of a lot of the denizens of Ottawa. :)
Yeah, Maroons makes more sense.

Redblacks,,,sheesh, I mean if an Indian was living with a black girl, their children would be Redblacks,,no? They would have to change their name again eh.

The 104th CFL Grey Cup game is about to get underway pitting the odds-on favorite Calgary Stampeders against the Ottawa Redblacks.

A win for the Stampeders would top off a year that saw them come within a breath of excellence finishing the season with a league-leading (3 points higher than the nearest competitor) 15 - 2 - 1 record matching that of 2014 when they won the 102nd Grey Cup. Hopefully, the ghosts of 1993, 1994 and 1995 will not be present on the field today.

For the Redblacks this Grey Cup will be their second in as many years which is also the amount of time they've been in the league - in this incarnation - no small accomplishment for the newest team in the CFL.

I'm happy the game will not be influenced by the weather, hoping for some great football, and cheering for the underdog RBs. May the Gods of CFL Football shine upon them.

GO REDBLACKS

It would have been nice to know what the PM was saying about the Grey Cup, thing is he spent most of them speaking in French.

Hank takes it over the goal line as the RBs strike first. 11 plays, 66 yards, a successful pass interference challenge, convert good and Ottawa puts 7 on the board.

I was hoping for a blizzard focused on just the stadium just for the fun of it. ;)

Shame on you spammy...............:p Not a fan of weather playing any part in important games, spam and this is the most important one of the year.

Game tied 7 - 7 as Stamps strike right back here in the first Q

RBs come up short of the end zone but Early gets them 3 for the lead

I'm sorry if this offends anyone but I wish they would finish already with the requiem.

Lots of action in the opening quarter which was almost purely an aerial display by both QBs 133 passing yards for Bo. 108 for Hank

Many years ago I would follow and root for the Hamilton Tigercats I think they were called because Frank Kush was coach. If you're not familiar with coach Kush , he coached Arizona State University football for the longest time and they were winners with a wide open offense. I even would sit out in my moms car on a saturday night and listen to them play if I couldn't go to the game. He was fired after over 25 years of coaching because he slapped a punter upside the helmet for punting lousy and the pansy and his dad sued the University. Sun Devils ain't been the same since.

Hell when I was at practice for high school football I started throwing up during full pad wind sprints. Damn it was hot. I told coach and he said , " go get a good load out and finish your sprints". I should have sued the school for abuse maybe coulda got some cash like that pansy punter and had an old veteren coaches job.

The Canadian game is different. With only three downs and a longer, wider field, it is a passing "air" game, far more than the American bulldozing ground game. Just different, not better, worse.
