2012 will unwind just exactly like the big wheel tells it. I expect an obedient transmission of the seasons. However the solar cycle peaks this year also and there have been some big CMEs. I fearlessly predict the following:

1. When the Mayan long count calendar ends next December, all that'll happen is the Mayan long count calendar will end.

And the new long-count calendar will begin at 13.0.0.0.0

2. Somewhere in the world, an airplane with something blue on its tail will crash and a distressing number of people will die.

A Smurf? Cookie Monster?

3. One person will survive some horrible event that kills a lot of others, and it will be called miraculous.

As well as someone will see a face in a piece of toast, a cloud, a tree, etc. and someone will say it's Jesus or the Virgin Mother.

4. Somebody famous will die, have a baby, get married, get divorced, get sued, get laid. Not necessarily the same person in each case.
5. I personally will almost certainly not die, have a baby, get married, get divorced, or get sued, but if the past 30 years of life with my wife can be taken as indicative, I'll probably get laid a lot.

Well, astronomers say it might be late this year, so they're saying anywhere between 2012 and 2014.
Investing in Candian banks is usually a safe bet, too. I wouldn't recommend investing in US Gov't. lol
