007 is a man period! Why don't they simply do another movie having a strong female in the lead. After all, unless the female is a real slut, 007 always 'bedded" his females to get more information out of them. Women are more subtle than that so it wouldn't bode well for her to be 007-like. We're smart. Surely something more suitable could be done.

That's OK, it would have to be a lesbian or one of the alphabets today.

Does the British Secret Service have a shortage of numbers? Why are all their agents 007? Surely a differently gendered person would have a different number.
In the movies and books, 00 indicates a licence to kill and 7 indicates the number of licences issued. So James Bond holds the 7th licence to kill issued by the British govt. In real life, Queen Elizabeth´s secret Agent named John Dee signed his letters to the queen "007" It is kabalistic numerology. I believe the 00 means something like "for your eys only".

The reactions remind me of when Roger Moore said Idris Elba isn't "English English" enough to play Bond.

So. . . a Scot, a Welshman, and an Irishman are "English English" enough, but a man born and raised in London ain't.

Well, Idris Elba is black, so can't play Bond, a white Scot/Swiss.

Actually, if you want to stay true to the cannon. James Bond is 007. If they created a female version then she couldn't be 007 because James Bond is the 7th agent to have the '00' designation. She'd have to be at least 008. But then the CRT and "themes" crowd don't really give a shit about canon as one can see from Star Wars, Doctor Who and Thor for example.

Well, it would just be wrong to violate the holy canon law.

Funny how it don't violate the canon when Othello is played by Orson Welles or Geronimo by Chuck Connors.

Actually, it's deemed as racist to have a white man playing a black man.
