    home from the phillipines

I am meeting my grandaughter at the airport later today. She has been in the phillipines for two months, working in an orphanage for children. She is 19 yrs old, and has had a huge culture shock. At first she was knocked of balance from the difference, compared to her life in canada, (vancouver...

Flu is not the biggest danger ...... It's the vaccine

How would we all be doing 'if' there had never been a vaccine developed, ever. Maybe we would be extinct by now, or all on crutches, or in wheelchairs, or maybe the population would be much lower all round the world, one way to keep the pop. down. hmmmmm. All of those 'bugs' out there are...

    How about eggs?

I have a problem eating fish mixed with anything, as I'm not a fish lover, but I do like smoked salmon, a little at a time. I'll think about it.:x no, I really will.:-? I just had seafood chowder the other day, (which I love), kind of contradicts what I said, but it has to be an exception I...

    How about eggs?

When preparing canned salmon for sandwiches, little bones, which are fully cooked anyway just get mashed up and dissapear, so not a problem.

    Pancakes for breakfast....or whatever

That's amazing, he won't eat the skins, but he is interesting to watch in the backyard, as he picks/digs veggies, fruit. Strawberries, green beans, carrots, potatoes, doesn't bother the corn, but we always save him a couple of rows on our corns, and we hold it in front of him and he gnaws them...

    Pancakes for breakfast....or whatever

Juan I don't know what kind of bananas you nanaimoites have, but I don't have any that just squeeze out of it's skin, and if one is a little too ripe, then it mashes real easy, and on it goes over the porridge, and it is eaten within minutes, so what's the fuss. I originally started this recipe...

    Pancakes for breakfast....or whatever

Yeah, a good natured person, who has never complained about me, ever. I don't think I'm that great, but he seems to.:-? peanut butter in the meatballs, even my dog wouldn't eat that, (nevermind, yes he would,) he's a lab, he loves cat poop, and anything rotton he can find, but I watch him like...

    Pancakes for breakfast....or whatever

Yeah, that'll be the day, but you know, he has never ever criticized anything I have ever cooked, he is so happy about everything, and if there was no food cooked, he would just say, 'let's go out for dinner', and it's, 'wherever I want to go'. (well, I shouldn't ever say 'never',) I remember...

    Pancakes for breakfast....or whatever

the word 'like' and the word 'cook', would not be linked in his mind, it's, I don't know how, would ruin everything anyway, BUT he doesn't want to at all, and should just admit it. He hates cleaning up in the house, anywhere, and doesn't, but I am used to all of that, and happy with it, not a...

    Pancakes for breakfast....or whatever

my husband has never made/cooked a pancake in his life, he doesn't even know where I keep the frypans,;-) and, he refers to everything in the kitchen, as 'yours', where do you keep your 'whatever'. Very typical italian boy, with 2 brothers, who's mother did everything for them, and I continued...

    Pancakes for breakfast....or whatever

A few years ago, I wisely switched any type of breakfast that contained pancakes, bacon, hash browns, with eggs, from breakfast to dinner, as I noticed that I didn't feel great after eating that heavy food first thing, especially if I also had coffee, but if I have it for dinner, everythings...

    How about eggs?

Yep, my parents were born in dublin, dad and london/eng, mom, and she hated tripe, but cooked for my dad. Yeah, I've had egg nog, some of which I didn't like, tasted too raw eggy, but I like the commercial type.

    How about eggs?

It's all in the brain, what we are accustomed to over the years, and I'm sure there are many who would gag thinking of some of the food we eat, I don't eat port rinds, yeah those salmon bones get mashed into the meat, so seem to dissapear, you're right about the sausages of course, but again the...

    How about eggs?

That's scarry juan, hope you found all the little pieces of glass. Just a side note of interest: (maybe). My grandaughter is staying the phillipines for two months working with homeless children, and sending us little pieces of info regarding their food. They eat eggs, with the chickens (or...
