The Green Shift is not the NEP!

Mel Knight reduced the oil royalty to 19% from from 25% at the same time changing the trade amount from US dollars to Canadian Dollars.

The tar sands production is running at 1.6 million barrels a day. That extrapolates to 4.6 billion dollars a year lost to Alberta Taxpayers!

Economies to scale shows us the probability that Albertans own more than a small fraction of the oil stocks is small. Most by default are foreign owned.

Alberta is not loosing anything in this Green Shift! We only get 19% and that is not touched. Had the Alberta Conservatives not reduced the royalty to below rock bottom there would be no room for anyone to plunk a tax on the stuff.

The NEP came into effect at a time when the royalty was much much higher and the production was 1/1000th what it is now. The production was taxed.

The NEP did bite into Alberta's revenue. The Green Shift doesn't.

A national enegy policy is inevitable, get used to the idea because if you disagree you'll be facing an armed opposition someday very soon. Nationalization is a vital necessity right now as the capitalists are very poor business men. Or have the commies ruined the global economy and isn't it true that no one dies for fluid BTUs?

I wouldn't trust Dion as far as I could spit....

Oh, i trust him......I think he is an intelligent, honest, very nice man........which is l;argely why he is getting eaten alive. If it weren't for the Green Shift, gun control, and foreign affairs, I'd actually consider voting Liberal for the first time ever, because I like Dion.

unfortunately, the economy, gun control, and foreign affairs covers everything I really give a damn about, and Dion is just way off base.....

Maybe he's nice, but certainly not too bright, considering his stupid green shift...

Green shift the least of your worries!

If Harper deals NAFTA he will include water. That will turn water into a commodity!
As such Canadians will have to pay the same price as their US counterparts.

I can see 120.00 water bills real quick! Considering cities are strapped for cash they will be quick to add on their 120.00 sewage fee.

Voting Conservative at this point in time is going to cost you a hellova lot more than the Green Shift (if it ever comes about)

We all know Alberta is on a push to privatize health care. We also know the Capital Health Region did a list of what not to cover under health care. They cannot implement this list until a change is made in the Canada Health Act.

A conservative governments is going to cost you big bucks like no other!

Of course ... you can always go for Mister fuzzy sweater I'm-a-nice-guy ... the one who worries more about investing shareholder money than keeping taxpayers working....

Go sleep with Jack....

My, my, my, we're bitter about not having it all our way aren't we. Apparently the simple logic of high-paying industry over minimum wage jobs in the form of better tax revenues evades both you and your imperial grand poobah.

Go sleep with Jack.... Writer, my ass....
