Very very true, But I would then contrast that with paintball.

At some fields the ammo is 33c a shot. But kids still have enough fire control with fully auto weapons to conserve ammo for a full 4 hours of game for $20

That is an expensive game, but I guess it is no more expensive than ski lift tickets.

Going back to the Sten, a few things I would like to add for information is:

The Sten MKI and II's also had a bad habbit of firing on their own without the soldier's finger on the trigger, due to the basic spring bolt used in them. I can not remember if they ever bothered to fix this in the later versions.

Another problem with the Sten was that many soldiers complained about the sights being pretty crappy (see below image)

Later on with the MKV version, they added the front sights of the Lee Enfield rifle to help improve aiming (See Below Image)

But the MKV had a few problems of it's own. The MKV was originally designed as a Paratrooper's SMG, but many Paratroopers complained about the forward handgrip being too weak and easy to break off during their jumps or landings. Some just broke them off on purpose.

It was a very cheap and very effective SMG for the British and Canadian forces of WWII, however it was far from perfect.

I always liked it though.

Wow. A two second burst would fire fifty rounds...........Not quite a Gattling gun but impressive.

Sounds similar to the ol' MG42:

"The MG42 has one of the highest average rates of fire of any single-barreled light machine gun, between 1,200 and 1,500 rpm, resulting in a distinctive muzzle report."

Of course 50 rounds in two seconds is a bit better then 1500 in a minute.

Ever see a modified Glock made into a full-auto with extended clip?

My math says that 1500 divided by 60 is exactly 25 rounds per second.;-);-)

I can't imagine anything more useless than a full-auto pistol.

Designed to miss.

Might be okay if you had a back pack full of extended clips. nah.....Those guns were jumping around so much that at fifty feet most targets would have been safe.....unlike the people standing near him.;-)

The MG42 is still in active use today, Pakistan for instance still uses them. They are well designed for what they do.
