……………

The people who must take the blame for the Liberals getting sloppy at the end of their 13 year power is the Conservatives…………….because if they had their house in order during the Mulroney years they would have been able to provide for the Canadian people a strong opposition and prevent the Sponsor ship scandal that cost the Liberals their right to govern…
I have no respect with that statement at all. To cast the blame on the 'other' party,
and try to deflect the actual guilty party is lame. The sponsorship scandal was
a disgusting display of irresponsible and criminal behavior within government, and
Cretian should be behind bars as we speak, but of course we all knew he would slither out of that, somehow.

The bottom line is a Liberal government and a strong opposition the Conservatives
I would like to see a conservative majority and a strong NDP opposition, and the
liberals demoted to the bottom of the food chain, below the Green party.

I like you just fine Socrates. I just don't buy into the notion that the scandal can be written off as someone else's fault. Playing pass the buck throughout our politics, rather than demanding our politicians stand up and be accountable for their actions, does nothing more than create a future of more corruption. What the liberals did has nothing to do, and is not excused, by what anyone else has done.

Fair comment, but the Opposition has as much of a responsibility as the Governing party to insure that the governing party doesn’t lead us astray……
I do agree two wrongs don’t do a right, but when a political system finds it self with out the element of a strong opposition, this is why we always experience that the people find them self’s at the end picking up the pieces, I don’t care who is in power it is common knowledge that POWER WILL CORRUPT THE BEST OF HUMAN INTENTION…. This is fact, I am not defending the Liberals to make my self feel warm and fuzzy…..

I am responsible for the sponsorship scandal because I voted for the Reform and Alliance parties during Cretin's time in office.

Well, I have to say, I don't see you holding the Liberals accountable for their time as opposition before the Tories collapsed under Mulroney. What did they do wrong that allowed it?

Ok Tollala I catch your self serving drift……………….
It is either we talk politics or lets talk about butterflies and bats instead.

The Liberals are a tenfold better then the Conservatives.
The Conservatives want your vote and they also want to be in your pocket and they also want to be in your bedroom, living you with the thought that the no matter where you turn you can not win………

I blame Chretien because he was in power, but I think the sponsorship scandal was small potatoes beside the debt Mulroney saddled us with, that we'll be paying for for the next thirty years at least. A good part of the sponsorship monies were recovered and it sure as hell doesn't cost the country anywhere near thirty billion dollars a year like Mulroney's folly costs us. Think of the medical care system, or military equipment we could afford if we didn't have to pay off that debt. I know that Trudeau got the debt started, but the bulk of it was by Mulroney.

Good strong point, at that time when the Canadian voters had enough of the Liberals, the Liberals during the time with John Turner were suffering from poor leadership, this why the Canadian voter found them self’s having to result to the Conservatives.
The same thing happened then; the Liberals were in disarray while the honorable Prime Minister Lying Brian Martin Mulroney was thinking how to beat Revenue Canada……
POWER WILL CORRUPT THE BEST HUMAN INTENTIONS.

In the bush near Sudbury
Turner got left holding Trudeau's baggage the same way Kim Campbell got left with Mulroney's.... See? It doesn't matter if it's Whig or Tory. It's the same monster - and Canadians keep recycling the two over and over and over and over and over and....

Isn't it time for a change?

So you are saying John Turner was a poor leader?

Of course he was, and he was the cause for allowing Joe Clark (Who) to come in for a short time and as we witnessed in secrecy then the Germans played a big roll in getting Mulroney’s Tories to kick Joe who and take over…………….It was all good for lying Brien Mulroney for a good ride that took almost 12 years to come to an end and as we saw it came to a brutal dismantling of the Tory Party.

All politics thrive with the single word POWER…………..
It is known that POWER with out checks and balances becomes very abusive……

No matter who is on the political helm of Canada, the Conservatives or the Liberals the opposition has to be one with clout and ability to protest loud in order to prevent bad legislation and bad governing practices taking place……………
When Brian Mulroney and his Tories got reduced to ruble, 2 seats in the house were not enough to perform as an affective opposition……………
Even though the majority of Canadian voters had clearly decided to give the Liberals 3 consecutive majority landslides, the Liberals at the end got sloppy……….
Now, to blame the Liberals for getting sloppy at the end is wrong……………

The people who must take the blame for the Liberals getting sloppy at the end of their 13 year power is the Conservatives…………….because if they had their house in order during the Mulroney years they would have been able to provide for the Canadian people a strong opposition and prevent the Sponsor ship scandal that cost the Liberals their right to govern………..
The bottom line is a Liberal government and a strong opposition the Conservatives, only then Canada has a chance overcoming the bad economic news South of the Boarder………… Anything else the Conservatives will run Canada to the ground………..

That, by far, is the dumbest logic I have ever heard on this web site.:roll::lol::roll:

None of them are snow white, but you are trying to blame the conservatives for what
the liberals did, 'not fair', and 'not true', admit what they did, and hold them 100%
accountable.

I admit they got sloppy what else do you what to see. Please answer the question if there was a strong Conservative opposition do you think that the Liberal Governing party would have gotten sloppy………………………I don’t think so…… any country with a monopoly political environment would be subjected to the same Political outcome.
