Oh well... "Canadian" still doesn't sound as bad as "American Redneck Neo-Nazi"

Oops... did I type that out loud? I'm very sorry, I didn't mean to offend, that wasn't very Canadian of me now was it?

Nope, passive aggressiveness isn't Canadian at all.

I wonder if Germans called "black" jurors Polish before the invasion?

Quick note: it's funny to see Canadian republican styled war *****s here. I've heard about them... I thought they were just rednecks, but I see I was wrong... they are the real wanabe.
Grow up clown.

Racists using code word `Canadian'
as substitute for N-word
Jan. 26
As a Canadian born and raised in Toronto and residing in the U.S. for nearly a decade, I can tell you that substituting "Canadian" for the N-word is common practice among white men in many states. I have come across it many times.
In 1998, I worked as a consultant and travelled across the U.S. for work with colleges and universities. On one of my first visits, in Maryland, I was introduced to a large group of white men as a "Canadian." They all thought this was hysterical. I was surprised, but expected the usual questions about hockey, igloos and French.
Later in the evening, over a few pints, they confided that "Canadian" is used instead of the N-word when "blacks are around," as it's so ambiguous. I was offended by this. I was unsure if I was more angry as a Canadian – a white boy from Leaside – or because I was drinking with a bunch of rednecks who throw the N-word around.
As the night continued, I ultimately dealt with the situation in Canadian fashion: Pulling the shirt of one of the mouthy members of the group over his head, I cracked him in the head a few times and suggested if he wanted to be ignorant, he had to choose another country.
My travels have since brought me to every state in the U.S., and I can confirm that "Canadian" means the N-word in several, particularly in the South. Sad but true, eh?

Honestly never seen nor heard it that way Walter.

Heard it being used as Karrie and I exampled though.

The only time I heard or saw racism, was outside the Fort.

Gee, I was in the States for many years and NEVER heard that. Guess I hung around with the wrong crowd.

Hell, I always thought being called "Canadian" was a compliment. :canada:
Me too.
I still think it is, Hermite; plus:

What do we care what a bunch of cracker, trailer trash, low-bred, morons think? --If they indeed think at all. We have one of their true "thinkers" incumbent in the White House.

:laughing9:
I'm with you Nugg...
Hi Scott, you've brought up the condition of our militarys ideals, which we can plainly see are not in accordance with what is commonly understood to be Canadian. The brain washing has been going on for two decades that I'm aware of. Joint exercise and integration has convinced me that when we will need them they simply won't be our military anymore, in fact if you listen to our captains of industry those people aren't Canadian anymore and if you listen to Harpers circus of clowns the same disconnect from the Canadian identity is true, we have over the course of the last six decades become far to familiar with the enemy. I do not think our military can be trusted to defend this country and I know thier are many traitors and moles in it. Simply put I believe we have no defence against the American assault, and our intelligence and police are the same way.We have been had from the inside out.
Yep, we can't be trusted DB, grow up lowlife.
Nope, passive aggressiveness isn't Canadian at all.

Whenever I've heard someone refer to another as a Canadian, they usually are referring to an intelligent, popular and good-looking person. Like me, for instance.

Nope...I never heard that being used as a "code word" for the N word. However I have heard guys call other guys Canadian. For example...

You're at the bar and the first guy to have to leave says...
"Alright guys...I have to get home."
"What! It's only 7 O'Clock...what are you Canadian?"

No I don't use the word Canadian like that...but that is how I've heard it being used. I never heard it being used to replace the N word.

Nice slice to the left, but all ya hit was the ruff hun...

This isn't new, it's been around since at least the late 80's when I first heard and it isn't directed at 'blacks'.

It is however directed at apathetic folk, seen to be weak kneed on crime and dishing out fitting punishments for criminals, as well as anyone coming across as 'swishy' or over polite.

But anything to bash them yank's eh?

The depths to which some people will dive in their attempts to slander a Nation, is beyond contempt.

This post for example. It is not commonly used but from time to time you do hear it.

I have quite a few American relatives and believe it or not, some of them use the C word for the N word. It's kind of an ironic substitution thing, a kind of attempt at being clever by calling a group of Blacks a group of Canadians since the N word is frowned on in almost all circles.

I never did get the big deal over racial terms.

So what if some word represented something bad in your heritage's past.... did it occur to yourself personally? No / Not Likely.

It's just a friggin word people.

You can call me Honkie, Whitey, Mic, Mac, Cracker, Cracka, Redneck, Kilt-Wearing Scruff Ball.... it's not going to phase me much.

Honkie? ~ I come more from a Fishing family then a farming family.... call me Trout.

Whitey? ~ Well yes, I don't get very much sun and I am pretty white.

Mic? ~ As long as it's not followed by Nugget, Meh.

Mac? ~ That was the name of a cartoon character I made a few years back.

Cracker? ~ When I sweat I do taste a bit salty, but at least there's no cheddar cheese smell.

Cracka? ~ That just shows bad english.

Redneck? ~ See Honkie and Whitey.

Kilt-Wearing Scruff Ball? ~ Ok, I made that one up, but I come from cheltic background, so it's ok for me to use that term, but not for you.... that's our word.

Well I've never heard it. I've been all over and was in the Marines for 4 years. I can't say I did not hear the N word from both black and white Marines but I never heard the word Canadian being used.

Much Ado About Nothing I do say.

I'm not surprised your relatives would use it that way. Given your feelings about Natives, even when confronted with the truth, seems racism must run in the blood line.

I would say Canadians toss around the word "American" substantially more as something derogatory than Americans do with the word "Canadian."

Let's see if I got this right...... posting an article that points out the fact that americans are using "canadian" in a derogatory and racist way is taking a swipe at the "Yanks"?

It's an MO Gh. And I'm still not convinced it's as it is being claimed to be.

As I have stated, I've heard the usage and it was always for what I have already stated.

MO my a$$, it's a fact and by fluffying it off as a swipe at the yanks when in reality it is a swipe at Canadians...is just more american a$$ kissing. They can say and do as they please but god forbid that anyone say anything derogatory about them.

Something we share with most of the inhabitants of the planet. It means a lot of things to a lot of people, none of them good.
Perhaps I am of the minority then since I do not share these imperious sentiments.
