Most of the mountains are not from Earth in origin.

Well your're still young enough to think doing 9 keystokes for one entry is a good idea. There's hope for you when you actually age. ;-)

You don't want to know how I was entering those symbols on papers and labs. Oh god....I can type those keys long before the mouse would be clicked onto the first relevant box...:angry3:

one of my pet hates is the people who publish a paper in a journal and use a superscript o, O or 0 instead of a degree symbol °. or even worse, they use um instead of µm.

Or, format, superscript, type "o", back to format, and reverse the changes. Though after that I usually would just copy it to clipboard, lol. Your way is much better Hermann!

Edit: LOL, I'm one of those Hermann. But I'm not published, so you saved me the horror. I always chose the appropriate symbol from the list of symbols though

I'm obviously not a computer whiz;)

shortcut for superscript and subscript in M$word is also useful:

cntrl and shift and + for superscript
cntrl and + for subscript.

Repeat either to toggle super/subscript on or off.

when it comes to hijacking, generally no-one minds if you hijack a rusty old tractor. Except maybe the farmer.
Speaking of farmers i could high jack the farmes daughter especially if she has a pair of 'Daisey Duke " with her. you know we are talking about mountains and hills in this thread.

9 keystrokes is better than start-->programs-->accesories-->system tools--->character map, scroll scroll scroll copy, paste
Agreed, but you can avoid the first five of those if you put a shortcut to Character Map on the desktop and your monitor's wide enough that you can see it somewhere around the edge of your browser or word processor window. Then it's just three mouse clicks to get the °. And who wants to memorize all those 9 keystrokes for more than one or two special characters? My ancient brain's not up to it anymore.

This thread is waaaay better now that it's been jacked - silly outer space mountains, indeed.

Is there no end to the B.S. people will believe in the name of the supernatural?

Continental drift creates mountains when plates collide. That explains why some mountains are basaltic (underwater formed igneous) some are granitic (air formed igneous) and some, sedimentary.

Fossils are found in sedimentary rock - rock formed from underwater sediments. Admittedly, some meteorite impacts have left deposits in the Earth. Mineral wealths in the Sudbury Basin are an excellent example. An impact with an object as big as a range of mountains would certainly have blown this rock to oblivion.

I say: I don't contradict the continental drift and the fossils found from underwater sediment and the wealth deposit that may have come from some meteorite impact.

The landing on Earth of the remnants of the destroyed past planets; this happened in its early development; we don't know exactly about its speed of rotaion, the nature of the thin crust, and many other factors that may have inluenced the process; and how have they been cast skillfully to make its movement steady and regular!

Our websites:
http://universeandquran.741.com
http://man-after-death.741.com
include valuable fields to study the miracle of the Quran; that tells them things that - in spite of their scientific advance - they do not know and are unaware of.
These websites will, in the next world, be for the behalf of one who believes, and against the one who takes it only in mockery and will not believe; because he then cannot say: I don't know; I was unaware of the Quran.
God - be exalted - said in the Quran 6: 105
وَكَذَلِكَ نُصَرِّفُ الآيَاتِ وَلِيَقُولُواْ دَرَسْتَ وَلِنُبَيِّنَهُ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ
The explanation: (Thus do We explain the signs [of revelation] by various [ways]: that they may say [to you, Mohammed]: "You have studied [the past heavenly scriptures, and compiled the Quran accordingly]", and that We may explain the [Quran in the future] to people who know [modern sciences; to study the Quran to know that it is truly from God.] )
