One thing you should note is that coffee is not a major diuretic.
no, but it surely does have another effect, quite local to that area. Perhaps people pee after coffee just cos they're already sitting down

I stand corrected....maybe it was to do with the beans of expresso use being more roasted and the cafiene gets burned off that way?

Well, its a complicated situation, mate. The beans traditionally used in espresso do contain less caffeine in them, and because of the amount of espresso normally drunk the total caffeine content in one serving is less. So, you just have to be careful how you say espresso contains less caffeine...
Of course if all you really want is caffeine, you can do what an old girlfriend of mine did and just use caffeine pills; they top them all!
really hmmmmm...never tried the stuff..reminds me of those wake up pills ...is it manufactured caffiene or natural source....I felt that way about Red Bull and related drinks for quite some time. Then I developed a bit of a taste for it. Now I have one after the German course I am in, to wake me up a little.

Ah, a chemical structures guy, eh? Take a look at Salvinorin A, the whackiest hydrocarbon drug out there (most drugs I know of are alkaloids). I used to have a chemical model of caffeine in my Studentzimmer (dorm room) back during my undergrad.
seems it metabolises quickly if the duration is btw one minute and an hour...sounds harmless enough too:roll:
potassium cyanide metabolises quickly too
