I think we're more open to it, we're raw and it salves us into healing. Does that make sense?
This was where I had my last Vision Quest..........5 days a 2 mile hike into the backwoods
And that's a good place to have an experiance, there is power in trees, older the better I'm told, and that's substantiated by science as well, even the most plasitc of modern men can feel the power of great trees and forests, the air is good in there the soil is good, it's alive and that is power and that is suppoted by science as well.Science is powerful but in lags behind the accumulated experiance of the traditions of man.Long before we developed language we sought the warmth and power of nature that's because it's the garden in that very old story that you know who stole from the old ones. The sea shores a good place for me, I like the power of water but I hate the wind for no good reason I can think of but then it's not about thinking it's about feeling or knosis.

The new gods are pale imatations of trees and sun and earth and water those are real and undeniable all else is the work of evil men.
I feel a strange sense whenever I'm on a large body of rock. Same when I get in an old stand of trees.
Self and I have talked about our experiences in England, and very old places. There is a sense of history, but it's more then that, there's a power to them all.
Beve down that path is a low creek i sat there Skyclad and just soaked in the power through my skin. 
I love the power in thunderstorms, my youngests name is Thunderfoot, he brings me the same feeling. When he's not breaking things, lol.
Whenever we get a big thunderstorm, I sit outside under the awning, and absorb the energy, it is an amazing feeling. Raw power, pure and simple.
Reading the above gives me hope that maybe one of you can give me an answer if the following is just a dream or an experience.
At night I alway try to go to that place between sleep and awake where we feel weightlessness and total freedom, then this happens to me: It is as if I wake up in a clearing deep in the forest, I am lying on the lucious green grass with my head against a big tree. Then in a distance I see a big cat coming out from among the tree, it keeps coming toward me but as it gets closer it gets smaller. They in lies down close to me with its front paws on my thigh. Then animals begin coming into the clearing, deer, rabits, squirrels, foxes, racoons as well as bird. They do not come very close but almost seem to be interacting together. All of a sudden another big cat comes out of the woods and at that moment the one beside me jumps up, starts chasing it and getting bigger as it moves away from me, then I wake up. I feel calm and as if I were at peace with nature and the world.

One more experience we share my friend. Pan LOVES playing drums with me and I go into chant with him EVERY time! You remember my drum? Hear its round tone singing with the thunder! AMAZING! Neighbors think Im nuts LOL
