Piety for thee, but not for me.
The offspring and well-connected of Iran’s murderous Islamic Republic apparently don’t have to follow the same rules as the unfortunate citizens of the beleaguered nation.
Take Hamideh Soleimani Afshar, 47, and her daughter, Sarinasadat Hosseiny, 25. The high-flying, selfie-loving mother and daughter cheered on attacks on the U.S. and used the old trope of calling America the “Great Satan.”
Mom, daughter ordered deported
Those bold boasts were delivered from the comfy confines of their luxe Los Angeles home.
Now, the niece and grandniece of Iranian terror master Gen. Qasem Soleimani have been ordered deported. ICE agents arrested the pair on Friday at their Tujunga home, revoking their green cards.
The U.S. State Department cited the mother’s “unflinching support for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps,” a designated terror organization.

“It is a privilege to be granted a green card to live in the United States of America,” Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Lauren Bis said. “If we have reason to believe a green card holder poses a threat to the US, the green card will be revoked.”
The rich and connected are safe
But what a run the pair had, along with other offspring connected to the regime. While the austere mullahs demand conservative dress and behaviour, their children are running wild in the world’s jet set capitals.
As the Islamic Republic crushes protesters in the street — with as many as 45,000 dead — the wealthy kids are flaunting their luxe lives on Instagram.

“Their lifestyle has enraged the citizens of Iran, specifically Gen Z in their age group, mainly because they see how these rich kids live — with no accountability for anything that they do,” Ella Rosenberg, a senior researcher at the Jerusalem Centre for Foreign Affairs, told the Times of London.
Biden administration slip
Hamideh Soleimani Afshar entered the United States during the Biden administration on a tourist visa and was granted asylum in 2019. She was granted a green card in 2021. Her daughter got her green card in 2023.
But there was the matter of a multitude of trips back to Iran.

Still, you can take the girl out of the Islamic Republic, but you can’t take the Islamic Republic out of the girl. She celebrated terror attacks on U.S. soldiers and military facilities and praised Iran’s Supreme Leader. Afshar also cheered on the horrors unleashed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Afshar drove a black Tesla, and on Saturday, the vehicle was reportedly jammed with luxury goods. That included a Miss Dior bag, Hermes cushions, and a Sephora makeup bag.
‘Seemed kinda nuts’
One neighbour described the mullah fangirl as “crazy” and acting strangely in recent days.
“It was the first time I met Hosseiny,” the neighbour told the New York Post. “The mother seemed kinda nuts. She said she’d been having chemo for cancer.”

Like many in the regime-connected Iranian ex-pat world, mother and daughter curated their exotic online personalities. Most of the boastful photos flaunted their Los Angeles lifestyles.
Daughter Hosseiny, in particular, was a social media keener, posing with a fluffy dog, black corsets paired with delicate pink skirts and oversized sunglasses. There were also photos beside helicopters.
Exactly what mother and daughter did in the United States remains a mystery. It appears from social media that they mostly went on vacation. There were the snapshots of private planes, tanning in tiny bikinis on yachts and whooping it up at music festivals.

Most recently, she was in Miami, Alaska, Las Vegas and other hotspots.
The scions of Iran’s brutal ruling class have led “famously hedonistic lifestyles” for decades. But a brief loosening of social media rules introduced them to the wider Iranian public.
Iranian Gossip Girls
And not with good results.
“These people benefit from the regime. They left Iran for now, because they were worried about staying there. Here, they can feel safe,” one Iranian at an Istanbul nightclub told the Daily Telegraph.
Rosenberg added: “They’re the equivalent of the Iranian Gossip Girl.”
