Story

Oops.

Somebody's OER is gonna be a mighty sad document. . .

Good news is both of the airedales were OK.
(….the shootdown underlines just how dangerous the Red Sea corridor has become over the ongoing attacks on shipping by the Iranian-backed Houthis despite U.S. and European military coalitions patrolling the area)
Quite the glitch. An AI or human fuck up?
I was thinking the same thing (from my uneducated peanut gallery). It sounded like the UAE pilots & the American Warship were in touch with each other when this happened. Something automated? Something tied to proximity?

(It wasn’t immediately clear how the Gettysburg could mistake an F/A-18 for an enemy aircraft or missile, particularly as ships in a battle group remain linked by both radar and radio communication)

It wouldn't take much to topple the fundys if Iranian people were given a bit of support.
I think they might be coming to realize it themselves as their proxies are withering.
I doubt the Iranian gov’t would’ve backed off on something like this pre-Oct 7th 2023.

I pointed out the hajib laws thing a few days ago and an hours worth of video of life in Tehran showing no shortage of women without any head gear. Good looking gals them Arayans.

Yep, & the ‘er term repeatedly used in relation to it, like “Harsher penalties with larger fines and longer prison terms (up to 15yrs) for disobeying the law….with enforcement by the morality police being close to non-existent in the affluent area’s to much more stringent in the middle income areas, to zero tolerance in the much less affluent areas.
Take the time to learn.

What a shithole. So many mud huts and camels. How can they live like that?
Would this be in an affluent or poor area?
All of them? You sure?

Wife's friend got back from Iran 3 or 4 weeks ago. Went there with coffee coloured hair, came back a blonde. Says she doesn't get hassled.
Would your wife’s friend be considered affluent in Iran? How about the people receiving her there…affluent in an affluent area?
Cool. Why some and not others then?
Below is a six day old story from the BBC:

Iran's National Security Council has paused the implementation of the controversial "hijab and chastity law", which had been due to come into force on Friday.

President Massoud Pezeshkian called the legislation "ambiguous and in need of reform", signalling his intention to reassess its measures.

The proposed new law - which would introduce harsher punishments for women and girls for exposing their hair, forearms or lower legs - had been heavily criticised by rights activists.

The strict dress codes imposed on women and girls, which have been treated as a national security priority by the rulers of the Islamic Republic of Iran for decades, have previously triggered protests.

Under the new law, repeat offenders and anyone who mocked the rules would face heavier fines and longer prison sentences of up to 15 years in jail. It would also mandate that businesses report anyone who violates the rules, etc…
If Iran didn’t already have hijab & morality laws in place, then the fines couldn’t be larger with longer prison terms and harsher penalties, or this story would be weirder than it already is.
