I didn't vote for Trudeau's government. I saw this coming as soon as I saw the name.

What I honestly do not understand, and what so many don't, is how a person who has shown the contempt of rule of law, of the US Constitution, of people in general managed to con so many people into voting for him. His base say it's because they - like you - believe things were better under him.

There are two main reasons thinking people voted for Trump.
1- he promised to bring blue collar jobs back to the industrial heartland. Whether he can do it or not is debatable, but at least he identified the problem
1-he is the lesser of two evils.

TBF, we have much the same problem. Elitists have taken over what used to be the workers parties, and their objectives are not ours.
I had this discussion with the then head of the Fraser Institute close to 30 years ago now. He seriously thought that Canada could make it as a service economy, meaning financial and investment. At the time, I owned a small logging company. I told him the majority of working people are either not mentally equipped or not interested in sitting behind a computer all day long. He said they would have to learn to adapt.
They voted for Trump because the Democrats thought they were garbage.
