A young woman who survived the terrorist attack at a music festival in Israel a year ago has died while dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder and depression.

The family of Shirel Golan, who was hospitalized twice after escaping the massacre by Hamas militants during the Supernova Music Festival on Oct. 7, 2023, said she died by suicide Sunday on her birthday.

The family was set to celebrate her 22nd birthday by visiting the Western Wall and the Cave of the Patriarchs, according to Ynet News.

“Shirel, rest in peace,” her father Meir Golan said Monday at the funeral, reports Israel Hayom.

“You had a difficult year. The National Insurance Institute and the state failed to help you. Let the state know there are 3,000 more Nova survivors who need help. May you be the last Nova casualty.”

Nova survivors who attended the funeral brought a banner that read, “Shirel was murdered on October 7, yet remained alive until today. Thousands of souls died and survived that day.”

The family blames the Israeli government for not doing enough to support her mental health.

“I saw that she had symptoms of post-traumatic stress, such as withdrawing and distancing herself from her friends,” her brother Eyal told Hebrew media, according to The Times of Israel.

“I asked her to take care of herself. She said that she doesn’t get any help from the state. She said that she only gets aid from the (Tribe of Nova Community Association). If the state had taken care of her, none of this would have happened.”

Reports suggest the country’s Welfare and Social Services Ministry denied the family’s accusations, saying she received care before and especially after the attack.

According to Eyal, on Oct. 7, 2023, he and his brothers set up a plan to help their sister escape the area under attack. She left her friends’ car and was rescued by a police officer, he said, adding that the first vehicle that left the festival became a “death car” where 11 people were murdered.

“The state killed Shirel,” Eyal told The Jerusalem Post. “If the state doesn’t wake up, there will be more cases like this.”

You post this as if it matters to people.

She was, sadly, just another excuse for a stupid fucking war.

She was a victim of Hamas, and a victim of the Israeli Government.

Since the outbreak of the current conflict in the Middle East, there has been a disturbing pattern of undermining Israel’s defense efforts — both from global powers and, most alarmingly, within the U.S. administration. Just this week, a classified military document detailing Israeli preparations for a potential strike on Iran was leaked.

This breach not only jeopardizes Israel’s security — it highlights a troubling trend of interference in Israel’s sovereign right to defend itself. From the outset, misinformation has run rampant, with efforts to deny and distort the truth.

Some detractors have gone so far as to question whether women were truly raped, dismissing the painful testimonies of victims. False accusations have surfaced, including Israel being blamed for bombing hospitals, which was unequivocally untrue.

The refusal to acknowledge UNRWA’s complicity in supporting terrorism only exacerbates the situation. Meanwhile, calls for a ceasefire have persisted —even as innocent hostages remain in captivity, etc…

Peace is not achieved through appeasement or weakness. It is won through strength. Israel has stepped into the role of the world’s defender of freedom and democracy, showing a level of resolve that other nations would do well to emulate. One day, this will be undeniable.

For now, however, the piling on by western leaders must end. They should be supporting Israel, not undermining it. They must stand on the right side of history.

As a friend of mine recently remarked, “The world watches, hosts terror apologists, condemns Israel, and lacks the gratitude for Israel doing the dirty work on behalf of democracies everywhere.”

When Israel destroyed the Osirak nuclear reactor in Iraq in 1981, the world condemned it. It took the horrors of 9/11 to quietly vindicate Israel, and allowed the U.S. to topple Saddam Hussein in 2003. Today, Israel’s actions, though criticized, will one day be seen as a bulwark that preserved democracy against the forces of terror.

Undermined? Democracy? Its a radicalized Theocracy!

They wouldnt be undermined if Israel was above the table now would they?

Does Israel do stupid shit it shouldnt?

Does Israel lie? (Reminders...IDF tanks shelling kibbuttzes with hostages inside, beheaded babies, bbqed babies, pregnant woman carved up, everybody is UNRWA, SAs, aid is getting through etc).

Is the Govt corrupt, radicalized supporting terrorists in West Bank, tabling bills to create a theocracy?

Gun therapy works for me.

Read up on this guy and some of the shit he says and bills his party tables and State sponsored terrorism he's allowing to happen.

Do you think all Christians, Muzzies, Druze, and all other Religions be banned and deported from Israel? How about jailing Christians for being openly being Christian Ben-Gvir thinks so.

Do you think thats cool? Knowing who you are supporting without boundaries isnt a good thing Ron.

Use the Google and try settler attacks on Christians. That shit alone says whats going on isnt necessarily about Muzzie/Jew militants when Christians are under attack for just being Christian in Israel.

To paraphrase OBGYN Kenobi "these arent the Jews you're looking for."

On Oct. 1, Iran fired more than 180 ballistic missiles at Israel, forcing the entire civilian population of the Jewish state into bomb shelters. The targets of the Iranian attack were believed to be three Israeli Air Force bases, as well as an IDF military intelligence headquarters just north of Tel Aviv.

In April, Iran conducted its first-ever direct attack on Israeli territory, launching some 300 missiles and drones, the vast majority of which were shot down in a multinational effort.

The direct military confrontations come on the backdrop of Israel’s ongoing wars against Iranian terror proxies Hamas in the Gaza Strip and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
“The Israel Defense Forces has fulfilled its mission. If the regime in Iran were to make the mistake of beginning a new round of escalation, we will be obligated to respond. Our message is clear: All those who threaten the State of Israel and seek to drag the region into wider escalation will pay a heavy price,” Hagari continued.

“We demonstrated today that we have both the capability and the resolve to act decisively, and we are prepared—on offense and defense—to defend the State of Israel and the people of Israel,” he added.

Efforts by Fred Hahn to clear air with disgruntled CUPE locals lands with thud
Numerous locals — including the union's national executive — have called on CUPE Ontario's Fred Hahn to step down for anti-Israel remarks

Fred Hahn, president of CUPE Ontario.
Fred Hahn, president of CUPE Ontario.
OTTAWA — Efforts by CUPE Ontario President Fred Hahn to mend fences isn’t going over well with disgruntled locals.

This week, Hahn issued a plea to meet with locals who’ve called for his resignation over his history of controversial and alarming statements regarding Israel that have left Jewish union members feeling unsafe and unheard.

“Between a historic cost of living crisis, an active genocide, and workers across this province standing up to bad bosses and demanding more, this last year has been unprecedented in our movement,” Hahn wrote in the letter viewed by the Toronto Sun.

“The last few months have been unprecedented, because the internal processes of our union have been discussed on the front pages of many newspapers, with right-wing politicians weaponizing our internal debates to try and break our solidarity.”

He offered to attend local executive meetings to clear the air and answer questions.

Among those demanding Hahn’s resignation was CUPE Local 2974, representing paramedics in Windsor-Essex — who declined Hahn’s offer.

“Everyone should be allowed to make mistakes, I don’t think anyone should be expected to be infallible,” Local 2974 President James Jovanovic said.

“We should have opportunities to make mistakes and seek forgiveness — but there has to be a willingness to self reflect, to learn from mistakes and grow — and I haven’t seen anything since Oct. 7 last year where he shows any remorse, growth or willingness to learn from those mistakes.”

“As we all think about reasons to be thankful this #thanksgiving2023, I know I’m thankful for the power of workers, the power of resistance around the globe,” he tweeted on Oct. 8.

Hahn gained infamy for problematic social media posts, including a tweet one day after the Oct. 7 terror attacks.

“Because #Resistance is fruitful and no matter what some might say, #Resistance brings progress, and for that, I’m thankful.”

In August, Hahn shared a Facebook post depicting an AI-generated Olympic diver wearing a Star of David turn into a bomb and fall on houses — criticism of Israel’s ongoing campaign to eradicate Hamas terrorists from Gaza.

That post sparked demands from CUPE’s national executive for Hahn to step down, saying they’ve lost confidence in his ability to represent the national union.

Hahn’s unapologetic remarks earned a public rebuke from Ontario Labour Minister David Piccini, who urged Hahn to represent his entire membership and to “stop hating Jews.”

Hahn also garnered criticism for speaking at a Toronto anti-Israel rally over the weekend, where attendees held up signs celebrating deceased Hamas leader and terrorist Yahya Sinwar.

Hahn is the target of an ongoing human right complaint filed by 25 Jewish CUPE members, alleging years of antisemitism by union leadership.

In response to the Sun’s inquires, Hahn stressed the importance of communication.

““The way we build worker power is by having conversations in our union, which is why we offered to meet with locals,” he said. “Otherwise, the letter speaks for itself.”

While his executive hasn’t made a decision on Hahn’s offer, CUPE 3987 President Jamie Cleroux said the explosion of antisemitic hate crimes in Canada since Oct. 7 is disturbing.

“It’s concerning, because the war that’s happening in the Middle East is half a world away, yet there’s fear within our communities here in Canada,” he said. “That’s very worrisome for me, but it’s more worrisome for those who are affected by it.”

Despite not having any Jewish members in his local, Cleroux said he’d like to see CUPE end advocating for overseas causes and return to improving conditions for their members.

“Within CUPE, we need to respect all members, we need to take care of what’s important — our jobs, job security, wages, benefits, working conditions, which is my goal, my focus as a local president,” he said. “I think that should be the focus of Mr. Hahn.”

“I’ve lost faith in in his leadership abilities,” Cleroux added.

Canada should ban UN's special rapporteur on Palestine
Francesca Albanese is coming here to legitimize hatred against Jews and the Jewish state

Italian international lawyer and academic Francesca Albanese, who was appointed United Nations Special Rapporteur on Palestines in 2022, will visit Canada for a "campus tour" in the coming days.
Francesca Albanese is a fetching Italian woman. She’s telegenic and elegant. She’s also an international lawyer, an academic, and she holds a PhD in International Refugee Law. She has many academic awards and distinctions.

She is also a bigot.

Albanese’s title, presently, is the United Nations’ “special rapporteur” on Palestine.

In reality, however, she is not just an advocate for Palestinians, she’s also an advocate against Jews and the Jewish state, and she devotes herself energetically to that unwritten part of her job description.

Notably, she is coming to Canada in the next few days. Albanese is conducting a “campus tour,” says Eventbrite, which is promoting her little jaunt.

One of the sponsors of her excursion to the colonies is Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP). In a detailed lawsuit filed against SJP in Virginia’s District Court in May, survivors of the Oct. 7 Nova Music Festival massacre describe SJP as the “mouthpiece for [Hamas in] North America, dedicated to sanitizing Hamas’ atrocities and normalizing its terrorism.”

So, that is who is one of the sponsors of Albanese’s visit here – a group that oversaw multiple antisemitic campus occupations across Canada, and which itself has called the Oct. 7 attack, wherein 1,200 Israeli civilians were slaughtered, 250 were taken hostage, and more than 100 woman and girls raped, “a historic win for Palestinian resistance.”

That’s who Francesca Albanese is hanging out with when she gets to Canada.

In the coming days, you will be hearing lots of debate about the Special Rapporteur for Judeophobia being welcomed at our places of higher learning. Fair-minded people, Jewish and non-Jewish, will attempt to stop her campus tour. But they will likely fail, because the parlour room bigots who run many of our universities will invoke “free speech” as a defence.

So, let’s look at that, shall we? How has Francesca Albanese exercised her free speech?

Hillel Neuer, the brilliant leader of U.N. Watch (and a Canadian), recently issued a compendious report on Albanese and her statements about Jews and the Jewish state.

Here’s just a sampling:

– “America is subjugated by the Jewish lobby.” Just seven words, there, but that sentence packs an impressive antisemitic punch, doesn’t it? Jews depicted as a cunning and manipulative foreign force: check. Jews dismissed as a grubby lobby group, and not human beings: check. Jews exercising limitless invisible powers – Jewish laser beams come to mind – over hapless North Americans: check. It’s all there. Albanese says what she means, and means what she says.

– The victims of Oct. 7 were “not killed because of their Judaism,” Albanese tut-tutted French President Emmanuel Macron in February, but because of Hamas’ “reaction to Israel’s oppression.” In that one, Albanese not only disrespected a G7 leader who helps to pay her fat six-figure salary (with big benefits, natch), she also clearly justified Hamas’ genocidal attack on Jewish and non-Jewish civilians. That sounds a lot like an indictable offence in Canada – section 318 of the Criminal Code, to wit, advocating or promoting genocide. If a Canadian said that, they’d get prosecuted. Albanese, however, is getting the red carpet.

– Albanese has called Gaza “the largest and most shameful concentration camp of the 21st Century.” In that one, Albanese did two things. One, she committed Holocaust inversion – she accused Jews, who are the literal victims of Naziism, of being Nazi-like themselves. Two, she lied. The U.S. Population Research Bureau has said this: “The Palestinian population growth rate is among the highest in the world.” Life expectancy there, says the Bureau, is “high.” Meanwhile, Palestine’s population growth outstrips Israel’s by 35%. If that’s a genocidal Nazi-like concentration camp, Francesca, it’s not a very effective one.

– Albanese actually participated in an official conference of Hamas, which is a listed terrorist entity in Canada. Yes, she did that, by video in November 2022. She told the assembled mass-murderers: “You have the right to resist this occupation.” She went on: “An occupation requires violence and generates violence.

There’s more – lots more – but you get the drift.

Francesca Albanese is a bigot who openly justifies violence and acts of terror. That’s offensive, and an offence. Canadian immigration law permits us to bar people who are likely to come here to commit an offence – we’ve successfully done so against neo-Nazis in the past.

We should do so likewise with Francesca Albanese. She is coming here to legitimize hatred against Jews and the Jewish state.

Kick her out.
