The reconciliation process and unification of Hamas and Fatah administrations remains unfinalized and the situation is deemed a frozen conflict…which sounds so familiar…like the Hamas Israeli negotiation.

Gotta have Street Cred (or whatever the Middle East equivalent of that is) with the Muslim Brothers in solidarity etc…but here we are. In return for its cooperation, Saudi Arabia wants from Washington a formal defence pact, assistance in building a civilian nuclear programme, and expedited access to high-end US weapons, including F-35 fifth-generation fighter aircraft…’cuz climate change and global warming, etc…Saving the planet one F-35 at a time. I’m sure Greta would approve.

This whole thing is complex.

Why is Israel the only one that's supposed to "comply" with cease fire? What about Hamas? They're the ones that started things & yet not one time have I heard that Hamas need to take responsibility for their barbarism. It's incredible that there are those who blame Israel solely for what is happening without giving attention to the fact it takes 2 to tangle & you won't have peace if only one side has to comply; it'll mean slaughter!

Oh, I keep forgetting - it's one of the many ways they want to reduce the world population. Darn it, I forgot about that part. Wars, food insecurity, land ownership dissolved, electrical failures during extreme heat & cold et al. It's all coming to pass unless there are changes & I honestly don't see it coming because the elections aren't secure anymore.

I also wonder if there'll be an election at all, especially if Biden (or Trudeau later) declare a climate crisis whereby everything will be put on hold with no elections possible due to environmental concerns. Sounds like that's a conspiracy but we all know how that's gone down in recent years. Is it a conspiracy or not. Only time will tell.

Israel has conducted "remediation" in the cases of four of the units in compliance with U.S. law prohibiting military assistance to security force units that commit such abuses and have not been brought to justice, State Department deputy spokesperson Vedant Patel told reporters.

The incidents in question took place outside of Gaza before conflict broke out between Israel and Hamas in October, Patel said.

Human rights groups say they have reported incidents involving Israeli units including extrajudicial killings, torture and physical abuse to the State Department, most of them committed against Palestinians in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

Patel declined to offer specifics on the violations U.S. officials looked at, which units were involved or what remediation steps were taken.

"Four of these units have effectively remediated these violations, which is what we expect partners to do," Patel said. In the case of a fifth unit, Washington has not yet determined whether there has been sufficient remediation and was still in discussions with Israel, he said.

The second phase is what sources described as the “restoration of sustainable calm,” (???) during which the remaining hostages, captive Israeli soldiers and the bodies of hostages would be exchanged for more Palestinian prisoners.

The diplomatic source familiar with the talks said the reference to sustainable calm was “a way to agree to a permanent ceasefire without calling it that.”

After months of deadlock, agreement from both sides would be a major step toward ending the war. But a failure to agree could deepen Israel’s presence in Gaza — if no deal is made, Israel is likely to launcha large-scale ground invasion into the southern Gaza city of Rafah.
