I got vaccinated and boosted and boosted.
I disagreed with the Freedom Convoy Stance.
I supported their right as Canadians to protest.

I also supported their right to choose whether or not they wanted to put an untested drug in their body. I took a leap of fate; I depended on people with higher education than me. But that was my choice, just as it is your decision, not the government's, to make. The Convoy wasn't fringe, misogynist, or alt-right funded. They were Canadians, and they did not deserve to be vilified and then victimized by the Federal Government.

“How much vitriol do we have to see of ‘honk honk’ – which is an acronym for ‘heil Hitler’ – do we need to see on social media?”
--Liberal MP, Ya’ara Saks

The government lowered the bar on the Emergencies Act because they were drunk with power and thought they were untouchable. It was a disgusting display, and the fact is that they eroded every Canadian's charter rights that day. That's how low they set the bar. They also attacked the charter rights of Canadian Soldiers and have been called out on that as well.

I could even go far as to say that the Canadian news agencies like CBC, CTV, Global, acted like CNN reporters during Desert Storm. Carrying the government's narrative and looking for the racists. You're bound to find a few, and they did. But the worst thing they had in Ottawa was noise disruption and a bouncy castle for the kids.

They deprived many of those people the ability to feed their families by freezing their accounts.

As an aside, it's unsurprising but morbidly amusing watching Jagmeet Singh trying to distance himself from propping up the Liberals along with The Bloc to attack the charter rights of Canadians.

I wonder if this will finally push Trudeau for that walk in the snow?

He is screwed politically.

The funny part is that he screwed himself.

But it cost us a shit ton of dough.

"I disagree with the decision. I disagree with [Justice Richard Mosley's] analysis and I disagree with his framing of the issue and his treatment of the facts," Lametti told host Catherine Cullen.

"I'm pretty confident this decision will be overturned on appeal." So confident in fact that he did this:

1706272873415.jpeg
Federal Court Justice Richard Mosley found the government's invocation of the Emergencies Act "does not bear the hallmarks of reasonableness — justification, transparency and intelligibility," and actions taken under the act infringed on the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Lametti, who has represented the riding of LaSalle-Émard-Verdun since 2015, served in a variety of parliamentary secretary roles before being named minister of justice.

He was dropped from cabinet when Trudeau overhauled his team last summer — a move that caught many observers by surprise.

He said he still doesn't know why it happened.

How far does that right extend?

Specifically, should the government be able to mandate a vaccine against a communicable, potentially fatal disease?

If they have proof of efficacy and are low risk of side effects or potentially cause the development of the disease (live virus) or forced on the already immune compromised or having to prove your vaccination status to participate in society.

Amen.

It's a fair question, but this was more about politics than public health. Should we mandate vaccinations? I think case by case, it is always a topic for discussion and debate.

A couple of examples: The government tried to mandate vaccines for the nurses. (Their Union fought that, and the government backed off.) They tried to mandate the cops. (Their Union fought that, and the government backed off.) I believe that your President and our Prime Minister were running out of options. they had to mandate something, so they targeted truckers who delivered goods across the border because they had no representation to fight back other than protest themselves. These are the same truckers who kept goods moving during the toughest days of the pandemic, and they were called heroes because there were so few places to get food and shower; they drove from a loading dock and sat in their trucks. You didn't go see a shipper or a receiver, they back you into a dock, load you, and leave the paperwork in the trailer or email it to you.

They went from heroes of the highway to fringe and were vilified as alt-right anti-vaxxers who were perpetuating the pandemic. They didn't perpetuate shit. The pandemic ran its course and lost steam. I was vaccinated, and I got COVID-19 at Christmas. Still haven't gotten my sense of smell back.
"Of course I'm concerned," Trudeau said in an interview Friday with The Canadian Press. "A number of people are there without wanting to incite violence but there are going to be, as we've heard, a small group of people in there who are posing a threat to themselves, to each other, to Canadians."
We need only look to the 2010 G20 Summit in Toronto, where police cars were overturned and burned, ATMs were bombed, Molotov cocktails were thrown, and the government saw no need to use the Emergencies Act. In fact, the protesters sued the feds for detainment and received a settlement of roughly 30 Grand each. I'll also add that Trudeau's Public Safety Minister Bill Blair was the Toronto Chief of Police in charge of security during G20, and his force was cited for overstepping their bounds in detainment and instances of police brutality.

In comparison to that, the Feds went way too far. And as the inquiry proved, the Truckers were already arranging withdrawal with police before the government used the act. They were going to be moved out. But they wanted to use the big stick to beat those who dared question. As someone who has trucked this nation and yours for 1/4 of a century, I can tell you that getting four truckers to put together a barbeque is a nightmare. The convoy size was pretty impressive.

Too bad it wasn't for the carbon tax.
I would have gone there myself.

The pictures I've attached are from the G20 in 2010.

I thought I did LOL.
Absolutely. You said "You ask a fair question, so I'll acknowledge that and then talk about something else."

That's an answer. Sort of.

"You didn't respond to my challenge!"

"Of course I did. I ducked."

Why is it important? It's important because if you have a right to refuse vaccination without "deprivation of life, liberty, or property," then you have a legitimate beef. If you don't have such a right, this is just another Westernesse Whimper.

So. . . shall we? There is an exercise in pizza education circles called a "hypothetical," by which one illustrates a point (or screams that this is the WORST. . . POSSIBLE. . . THING!).

To give you the benefit of this exceedingly expensive pedagogical technique, I have concocted a hypothetical just for you, and even made the answer multiple-choice, to avoid strain.

The Case of the Deadly Disease Attack

It happened that in the Colony. . .er. . . Dominion. . . er. . . Republic of Kanda, just after the installation of Stephen Saddlesoap, Conservative Member from Runamukluk, Saskatchereallywanna?, as USDA Prime Minister, the People's Republic of Slanty-Eyed, Small-Dicked, EEE-vil Bastards (herafter "PRSESDEB") used its new ownership of the KBC, which had been privatised and bought up by the PRSESDEB just the day before, to announce to all Kandans "Yesterday, we used our frotirra of high artitude barroons to lelease ovel Kanda a savage kirrel vilus, calefurry clafted in oul rablatolies, which wirr kirr off arr Kandan men, reaving Nerr Pulehealt to be lavaged by oul almy of holny, smarr-dicked, sranty-eyed velmin and selve them back bacon and eggs. You cannot lesist us!"

The USDAPM appeared on YouTube videos distributed by stout, true-hearted Men of Westernesse, saying "My fellow Kandans, we stand ready to meet the onslaught of the PRSESDEB armies. To prepare for them, we have equipped six Canadian snipers, acknowledged as the best in the world, with 150,000 rounds of .303 ammunition each, which is no great burden for their strong, manly backs. Obviously, they are well-positioned to kill 900,000 invading Slanty-Eyed, Small-Dicked, EEE-vil invaders. But there is a price to be paid." He dashed away a single, manly, rueful tear from his craggy, wind-burned cheek, cleared his throat like thunder over the wide prai-reeee, and continued. "In order to preserve our population, the genius scientists of Kanda, operating strictly from private, for-profit universities and drug companies, have prepared a vaccine that, after 150 years of testing, has proven to completely neutralise the PRSESDEB Kirrel. . . um. . . make that "Killer". . . virus, without any side effects but whiter teeth and bigger dicks in all recipients, but is only effective if administered to every. . . single. . . Kandan. Therefore, I must clear my manly throat (clearing his manly throat) and announce that effective today, we will mandate this vaccine for all Kandans. It wounds me to my mighty Kandan heart to so brutally tread on the rights of all free-born, Gawd-given Kandan assholes, but it is our only hope. May the Unified Gawd bless Kanda, and good-night, eh?"

So the vaccine was rolled out. Adminstration went without a hitch, until one homosexual trans drag queen Librul Froggy faggot from Montreal refused the virus, stating that it is his Charter right to so refuse and that "Vraiment, I welcome ze Slanty-Eyed, Small-Dicked, EEE-vil Bastards, for Kanda is now nothing but a hellscape where children play 'appily in the sun and nobody cares about my whining."

You are the sole surviving member of the Supreme Court of Kanda, so you must rule. Does M. LeFag, or does he not, have the right to refuse vaccincation?

A. Damn right he does, eh?
B. No. The manifest public benefit of the vaccination, and the manifest Librul Froggy faggoty TREASON of that Librul Froggy faggot, overcomes his so-called "right."
C. No, but only when the Kandan government can demonstrate that it has tested the vaccine for another 150 years and found it to be safe, effective, teeth-whitening, and dick-enlarging in EVERY SINGLE case can it be forced on him.
D. Yes, if the gummint wants him vaccinated, the gummint has to pay whatever he demands, and authorize him to truck softwood lumber to the States.

The exam begins. . . now.

Actually, I can't answer your question with any certainty, even with the added bonus of dick enlargement, it's not a hypothetical I'm prepared to bite on.

Let's do to real viruses.

EBOLA - Mandate away
COVID - Likely Not.

This is a question of both the law, and your values. What's YOUR answer?

OK, I know your answer. It's "only if it meets some undefined standard of 'bad enough,' and only in hindsight."

In 2020, not much was known about COVID. If we knew then what we know now then your list is accurate.

I'll ask you, since you seem relatively sane on the subject. Is mandating/refusing a vaccine a matter of right, or a political/administrative consideration?
With covid, they never did mandate it. You couldn't do certain stuff without it. Same with other vaxes, the ones that have been around for years but are now refused by ignorant people citing the quack from Britain and his fake study on autism. Even those they are not mandated but you can't go to public school without them in most places.

That being said, by early 2022 it was very clear that covid had mutated to a more contagious but less virulent strain. The government did hold on to these restrictions too long. And if they knew now what we do now, I wouldn't have done any lockdowns or restrictions but it all was reasonable at the time.

Sounds like you're saying political/administrative issue.

I would point out, though, that I didn't ask what it was/is. I know that. I asked what you think it should be.

Why does Ebola get a pass and not Covid?
The great thing about dealing with a hypothetical.
So, if we are talking about a world pandemic Ebola would be the greater threat.

In 2020, not much was known about COVID. If we knew then what we know now then your list is accurate.

In 2020, those truckers were driving unvaccinated across the border right into the height of the pandemic. In the early stages, I was just as concerned as everyone else. By 2021, this happened:

<iframe src="https://globalnews.ca/video/embed/8156684/" width="670" height="372" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen scrolling="no"></iframe>

I don't know how to post a video clip on the site.
