Y'all should move to Montana, where the legislature is currently proposing to expel (or censure) a duly-elected member who just happens to be trans.

For "conduct."

Yep, all because she - rightly - said that denying trans kids the health care they needed would leave blood on their hands. Considering the suicide rate for trans kids...

But now they're crying about how it was 'threatening'. At least they got that right, it is threatening, to the very kids they don't give a shit about.

The Senate voted 32-17 on party lines Wednesday to approve amendments made in the House — the body’s final action on the bill that seeks to ban the use of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and surgery to treat minors diagnosed with gender dysphoria. The diagnosis requires an insistent, persistent and consistent declaration by someone that they are different from their sex assigned at birth.

The treatments — including puberty blockers and breast reduction surgery — would still be allowed for young cisgender people. The bill also prohibits Montana’s Medicaid program from paying for the medication or surgical procedures for transgender minors.

Montana’s Medicaid program began covering medication treatment for gender dysphoria for minors in 2015, the state health department said in January, and had spent nearly $1.4 million — an average of $173,000 a year.

Under the bill (Bill 99), health care providers who prescribe puberty blockers, hormones or surgery to transgender minors would have engaged in unprofessional conduct and be subject to discipline including a mandatory one-year suspension of their medical license.

If the bill becomes law, it would take effect Oct. 1, ending current treatment for transgender minors.

The House amended a section of the bill that would have given transgender people who later regretted their treatment up to a 25-year window to sue their physicians for damages. That timeframe was reduced to four years. Physicians would not be allowed to carry liability insurance coverage to pay for such damages under the bill.

The Montana House voted on Wednesday to censure the state's first openly transgender legislator Zooey Zephyr, who called for her colleagues to vote against a gender-affirming care ban for transgender youth.

The House voted 68-32 to censure Zephyr, who is barred from participating from the House floor.

The issue came to a head when Zephyr, a Democrat and the first transgender woman to hold a position in the Montana legislature, told lawmakers on Tuesday they would have "blood on their hands" if they voted in favor of a bill to ban gender-affirming medical care for minors. She had made a similar comment when the bill was debated in the House the first time.

House Majority Leader Sue Vinton rebuked Zephyr on Tuesday, calling her comments inappropriate, disrespectful and uncalled for.

Zephyr said Wednesday that she stood by what she said Tuesday "of the devastating consequences of banning essential medical care for transgender youth. The gender-affirming care ban "is part of an alarming trend of anti-trans legislation in our state, which includes over a dozen unconstitutional bills. These bills ban our art forms, our stories, our healthcare, and our very existence in Montana code."
Zephyr, who is transgender, has been blocked from speaking since last week. That's when she told supporters of a bill to ban gender-affirming care that when they bowed their heads in prayer, she hoped they would see "blood on [their] hands." She says was alluding to studies that show that transgender health care can reduce suicidality in youth.

…& here’s a look from outside America looking in:

That says all you need to know; this law is biased against Trans people only.
….or the more you know, the more informed an opinion you can make on a topic. My gut might not be correct without knowledge like other topics.

On this one I don’t know enough to have an opinion yet, as I pulled out links that I’d like to read through that, I haven’t had a chance to do so yet. Figured others might be in the same/similar boat.

A bit about this political party. A bit about this legislator. A bit about LGBTQ rights in Montana. A couple links to different news stories that felt like different opinions, and one from Canada about this American news story.

If the bill is not allowing trans kids to get the care they need, but that same care is okay for straight/"normal" kids, that is a law based on bias and discrimination - in this case, discrimination based on gender.

I don’t doubt what you say, but I haven’t had a chance to read further about this, & it won’t happen tonight. Maybe tomorrow.

Except, I did. But sure, believe what you will.

I give a shit more about kids than you do. And no one is 'foisting' any ideology on any kid. That's just what you and people like you have to tell yourselves to justify your misogyny.

But hey, if she's not a wackadoo, then why did she base her claims off of someone who is?

Yeah, gotta call "Fake" on her.

And yet you pissed and moaned about the repealing of R v W despite the fact it was discriminatorily based on gender. It only protected the woman's rights yet YOU and others have insisted that men can get pregnant.

Pick a lane.

All kids with mental heath issues get the same level of care.

WTF you talking 'bout, Jin?

My issue with Roe being repealed is because it's NOT up to the Government to determine what a woman's (or a trans man's for that matter, which adds a whole other level of depth to the issue, though I'm sure you'll TOTALLY miss that level of complexity) health care decisions are.

That hasn't changed nor does it conflict with the discrimination this bill in Montana CLEARLY shows.

No "lane" needs to be picked.
