In Canada i would disagree. Trudeau very specifically weaponized the virus for political reasons in the election and before and was making very specific statements about people who disagreed with him being a waste of space and bad people (misogynists and bigots) and was very directly and intentionally dialing up that division.
Other parties may have taken political positions but nobody came close to that kind of deliberate campaign to get the vaxxed to hate and revile the unvaxxed.
Your thread title isn't specific to Canada. Even your post I was responding to referred only to US politicians.
At any rate, Canada had a feckless conservative leader throught most of the pandemic who was more concerned in fighting for his political survival than taking a strong position, he was useless. I'm not sure what province you're in but in SK, one of the most conservative provinces in the country, our premier made weekly declarations that he had no patience or tolerance for "the unvaccinated", that life was going to be made uncomfortable for those who chose not to get vaccinated. And he made good on his threat...my wife lost her job under his imposed mandates after months of enduring unbelieveable comments from fellow workers about how unvaccinated people should be treated. Other provincial mandates ensured we paid the price for our medical disobedience daily. These were policies and threats separate from the Federal mandates, which also greatly impacted us.
It doesn't matter where you want to look, the unvaccinated were used as political pawns ...everywhere... and politicians of every stripe used people who made unacceptable medical choices to signal their virtue and grab more control. These actions were despicable, deliberate, and dangerous to free society, and needs to be condemned regardless of partisan leaning...period. Anyone who doesn't see this is being played, and are as reckless and foolish as the Orwellian policies they defend.
