I never heard of her before she got fired. Maybe it is just a name recognition stunt?
Well probably not, she was pretty popular and well known. But - she had carved out her own little empire there and had a lot of freedom to do the news the way she wanted and resisted any change. It was like her own little kingdom. She's probably furious that she's had that taken away, but she KNOWS it's because they want to do something different and she won't go for it.

I think its just a case of the doorman thinking she owns the building and now she's salty that someone said she couldn't do it anymore.

The old thing doesnt play out. Laflamme took over for Renaldo who was considerably older than Laflamme is now.
Their argument is that while the network looks at older gentlemen as 'distinguished' , older women are seen as 'past their prime' and ugly and not worth anything.

Which is stupid. Nobody was tuning in because she was so hot before her hair turned.

Lisa LaFlamme fans blast CTV over special devoted to Omar Sachedina
'Letting CTV use your personal family history for their PR damage control exercise is kinda crummy'

CTV might be planning to honour its Chief News Anchor and Senior Editor Omar Sachedina with a new special devoted to his heritage, but many fans of Lisa LaFlamme — who was unceremoniously dumped earlier this year — won’t be tuning in.

Fifty years after his mother and thousands of other Indians were expelled from their home in Uganda, Sachedina travels to his family’s homeland alongside his mother and sister in a new documentary set to air this Friday.

“I want every Canadian to know this story, because it is one of determination, of strength, and of resilience. It’s also a story of how immigration and immigrants add to the richness of this country,” Sachedina said in a release. “It also speaks to the kindness, compassion and generosity of those who welcomed them as they built their new lives.”

After Ugandan dictator Idi Amin ousted the Ugandan Asian community from the country, over 6,000 people fled to Canada.

But after the announcement trumpeting the in-depth special many LaFlamme loyalists were quick to let the network know they won’t be tuning in to watch Sachedina’s “unforgettable journey.”

“Um, no thanks,” one person tweeted in response to an ad. “I’ll tell you what’s unforgettable, firing perfectly good long-standing news readers,” another added.

“Sorry no. Still haven’t forgiven you for Lisa LaFlamme,” a third critic jabbed.

“You should do a story on how Lisa LaFlamme was ousted and you happily, joyfully, announced your position. I don’t watch CTV anymore,” a fourth chimed.

“Letting CTV use your personal family history for their PR damage control exercise is kinda crummy,” a fifth raged.

But not everyone was unimpressed. Several comments on Sachedina’s Twitter post announcing the doc were supportive. “I remember the first time I went back and the tears wouldn’t stop. I can’t imagine how it hit your mom. Looking forward to watching,” one person wrote.

LaFlamme, 58, informed viewers her contract was not being renewed in a video statement posted to social media on Aug. 15.

In a Twitter post, the Canadian Screen Award-winner said she was informed June 29 that her contract was not going to be renewed and that it was a “business decision.”

“I was blindsided and I’m still shocked and saddened by Bell Media’s decision,” LaFlamme said. “I was also asked to keep this confidential from my colleagues and the public until the specifics of my exit could be resolved.”

In a press release, Bell Media said it was “recognizing changing viewer habits” as it moved “the role of its Chief News Anchor in a different direction.”

“At 58, I still thought I’d have a lot more time to tell more of the stories that impact our daily lives,” LaFlamme continued. “Instead I leave CTV humbled by the people who put their faith in me to tell their story. I guess this is my sign off from CTV.”

LaFlamme’s departure has been met with anger coast-to-coast, with Michael Melling, the vice-president of news for Bell Media, announcing a leave of absence from the company. Bell Media has also been forced to contend with claims that LaFlamme was jettisoned because of her grey hair with a number CTV News journalists asserting that her firing was based “more on personal malice than any business-related reasons.

“I am honoured to follow exemplary journalists, such as Lisa LaFlamme and Lloyd Robertson, who have had the privilege of anchoring this newscast and established it as a go-to source for current events. And I am excited to work with our outstanding and dedicated team in this new capacity,” 40-year-old Sachedina said after her ouster.

“The daily connections we make with Canadians over the past six decades are built on a foundation of trusted journalism, fairness, balance and integrity. I look forward to upholding this, and continue delivering news that Canadians rely on.”

Well in fairness while there's something to be said about 'comforting familiarity' she was getting a little stale. And i often found her obligatory trite little stupid comment after each story annoying. Reporter - "10 starve to death in cave collapse!" Her- "most troubling. Ok, next story... " Reporter - "Huge cracks have appeared in the earth's surface and giant rocks are falling from the sky!" Her - "Certainly cause for concern. Ok next story... "

We'll see if this guy represents an actual change in their style or if he's just meant to be something 'fresh'.

It is just CTV replacing one lefty liberal socialist with another leftist liberal socialist. Good riddance to a bad La Flambe. LOL.

It would require special training and a research grant to find ways for me to care less about any of that shit.

Poor White people. They're so oppressed.

It's poor old whitey alright. White people are now the ones fast becoming the oppressed people in our own white homeland. It would appear as though old whitey is now being replaced these days by more non-whites in just about everything. We see it happening today in TV commercials, TV shows and movies where white people are hardly seen all that much anymore. They are slowly being removed and replaced by non-whites from the scene.

Many fast-food corporate restaurants and corporate businesses are now being taken over and are now being operated and owned by non-whites thanks to multiculturalism and diversity and this massive third world anti-white immigration invasion policy being implemented by our own white traitorous politicians who have turned their white backs on their own white people. Old whitey needs to wake the hell up soon or else they will be kissing some non-whites ass for a job.

Poor old, oppressed whitey indeed but you love it, eh Chief spreading bull?

Well, as a conservative, I will not be getting any friendly leftist liberal love nor hugs from that liberal socialist buffoon. He is just another lefty liberal pos that hates my conservative guts. Of course, the feeling is mutual. I never watch CTV anyway. Same thing for CBC and GloBull. Way too much anti-conservative bullshit for me to want to waste my time watching. Besides, I am way too busy enjoying and watching FOX NEWS at night and alternative conservative Canadian websites. (y)

What goes around comes around, General Custard.

Better watch what you say, Chief Spreading Bull, or I may have to come over one day and burn down that fine looking teepee of yours. Better keep a pee-pee pail handy just in case. Watch out for any smoke signals. It will be my one and only warning that I may be on my way. Just some friendly advice, Chief. :ROFLMAO:

Michael Melling, who axed Lisa LaFlamme at CTV, permanently replaced
Author of the article:postmedia News

The head of CTV who went on leave after popular news anchor Lisa LaFlamme was canned has been permanently replaced, according to reports.

Michael Melling faced heavy criticism over LaFlamme’s departure from CTV.

An internal memo sent to staff said Richard Gray, Interim VP, News is “assigned to the role on a permanent basis. Michael Melling has been reassigned to VP Shared Services, and will not be returning to CTV’s news operations.”

Melling went on leave in August, with an internal memo saying at the time he wanted to “spend time with his family.”

It's actually a promotion. It's a bigger job, he'll get more money, and while it doesn't have the 'flash' of the old job it's still a step up. And Lisa's still fired.

but the ignorant on the left will lap it up and say they were able to get someone 'cancelled' so they're all happy and they'll move on and lisa will be unemployed unless she can land a permanent gig before what's left of her public sympathy drains away completely. Nobody will be super eager to hire someone who's THAT kind of trouble maker unless they can milk public sympathy to draw enough viewership to make it worth while.
