The Queen will break with tradition and appoint Truss or Sunak as new British PM at Balmoral instead of Buckingham Palace on Tuesday, with Truss the strong favourite to win on Monday and become Britain's 56th Prime Minister.

One of the monarch's jobs is to appoint the Prime Minister, but nowadays they usually appoint the person that has been elected for the job.
