Access to post-secondary education is most definitely based on financial ability. Idealogically, access to post secondary education should be governed by aptitude and ability, not how think daddy's wallet is. Education is our future, it would be nice to be able to think that future decisions would be made by those best qualified to make them. I'm thinking a hugely expanded scholarship program for those who can't meet financial thresholds.

Those forestry numbers are easily spun by producers and harvesters, much of them based on projections that stretch decades into the future. The current bottom line says we are harvesting at a faster rate than the forest is being replenished. Raw log exports continue to climb as jobs in the value-added forestry products sector continue to drop. The mining industry is a microcosm of our overall approach to environmentalism, "We just can't afford to do things properly".
Man you are out of touch with today’s practices , a mining company can no longer afford not to do things properly . Any new project takes five years or so just to clear regulatory hurdles .There is no comparison between today and 50 years ago .
As for education I agree it should be less expensive , but there are any number of scholarships and bursaries available to graduating students and many low income people take advantage of them . Many immigrants working in menial jobs are able to put their children through school and they are successful engineers , accountants etc.
Many of the progeny of the fat wallets waste their time on useless degrees like Woman’s studies , etc. Where there is one job available per 50 graduates . Who cares if those rich dollars are feeding the system ?

I'm curious as to what any of the above has to do with the conservative leadership race? Nick, since you don't have any real interest , what's your reason for this? Why are you even involved? It would be like a conservative involved in the NDP, Green, or Liberal party leadership race.

Maybe one of mods can move this to it's own or an existing thread on this topic.

Doesn't "Omnibus" imply a variety of subtopics within the main topic. Just a question here, who are you to tell me I'm not entitled to an opinion here? Would that mean a Conservative voter isn't entitled to called Trudeau names any more ?

The Omnibus thread is anything relating to the thread title

Conservative Leadership Race

You can see it used on other forums as well.. www.CanadaKA.net for example. Rather than having 20 threads on the same topic.

Considering Trudeau is PM, no. He is all of Canada's Prime Minister. With this, we are talking about the election of a leader to a specific political party. If you are not a member of that party, and in fact have stated that you would not vote for that party, then you don't have a dog in the race and shouldn't be filling the thread up with bullshit.

WATCH: Charest defends Huawei work as leadership campaign kicks off in Calgary

https://westernstandardonline.com/2...-as-leadership-campaign-kicks-off-in-calgary/

OMG!!! 😂😂 The guy is a Hot Mess

Read the article, the only thing I see concerning Hauwei is comments about helping to secure the 2 michaels release. Considering this is the westernstandard it doesn't surprise me that they are fast and loose with the "facts". Maybe I missed it though. How about you quote what is being implied.

The liberal media are pushing Charest non stop. I don’t think I could vote for a party led by Jean Charest, and most Conservatives won't. He's nothing but a spoiler candidate at this point.

If this idiot becomes leader I’ll be voting PPC..

well, considering their showing, or should I say lack of showing, in the last few elections I'd say there are very few "true" conservatives in Canada.

It's funny how in the last debates, before the fraudulent election took place, and fascist Turdeau won, all four main political party's purposely kept Bernier out of the debates. They knew that he could be a threat to their liberal/socialist agenda for Canada. This is no doubt the reason why the PPC had a bad showing in the fraudulent election. The Turd won with 20% of the vote which many have said that there is no way that the Turd should have won the election. And everybody that I spoke to all told me that they would not be voting for the Turd. The Turd won the election because it had to be a fixed election.

Again, it's funny as to why a separatist Bloc guy who wants kaybec to separate from Canada was allowed to be in the debates at all but not a pro Canadian like Bernier. I see something wrong with this picture, don't you? Politics is so corrupt in Canada just like it is in the Ukraine. Zelensky and the Turd do make a happy wonderful corrupt and fraudulent couple.

You nor I do not really know as to how many real and true conservatives are out there because the lying Canadian media will always try and keep that from ever being known. But I do know that there are a hell of a lot of real and true conservatives out there. I guess that we will have to wait until the next election to see what happens then with the PPC.

Ok, so where is he defending? I see what levant the whiny assed racist is saying, but I don't see anything or anyone reputable accusing Charest of anything.

Personally, I have not made up my mind yet as to who I will support. My MP has already stated that she is supporting Pierre. There are quite a few candidates that have yet to put forward their platform. I will wait till all the cards are on the table before deciding. I just know that I am tired of being part of the opposition benches and would very much prefer to see the liberals there and trudeau regulated to the back benches.

debate rules are you need to have seats in parliament or a certain percentage support in the country. the PPC did not meet either threshold. They are a fringe party at best.

Oh shit, he be spittin'

Jean Charest entering the Conservative leadership race: 'I will make this party win'

'I'm a Conservative who believes in fiscal conservatism, who believes in a market-based economy, who believes in the federal system,' Charest tells Postmedia.

Jean Charest is officially entering the leadership race of the Conservative Party of Canada on Thursday and he is already doing a lot of talking about winning.

Charest and Trudeau, no difference. Both are leftist liberals so it won't matter which one wins the next election. Canada and Canadians will once again get phuked. Charest is just another liberal all dressed up in conservative clothing. (n)

When the lying Canadian media starts trying to promote someone, like they will be doing with Charest, then we all better watch out. There is only one way out of this political mess that we have to live in these days and that is to vote for the PPC. What the f'n hell do we have to lose at this point. Why not give them a try and see what they can do. Otherwise, after the next election, it will be business as usual. Keep fkn Canadians up the arse holes.

Although, I do believe that Pierre Polivier would make a great leader for the conservative party. But it will be for dam sure that the lying Canadian media will not want to see Pierre as the next PM of Canada. He would be seen as just a bit too much of a right of center conservative party leader for the media to want to see as PM of Canada. Charest is just another lefty liberal which hopefully the conservative party do not make this buffoon lefty liberal their next party leader. (n)

Ya, unfortunately, a lot of politics is "emotional" - people need to get the emotion out of their choices and think things through i.e. do the research and investigate before making a decision. Emotional decisions are almost always wrong.

Does that go for both Libs AND Cons, or just who you think are Libs?

How can you call Levant a racist ? I have seen nothing to support that allegation. Are you sure you are not a liberal , throwing terms like racist around indiscriminately .

This is kinda the deal. . .

Here in Maryland, we have a demographic situation not unlike what y'all describe. The north, south, east, and west are all conservative, Republican, frequently slave-state types. The center, the Washington-Baltimore corridor, is educated, liberal, and more wealthy. It's also populous enough the Maryland Congressional delegation is seven Democrats, one Republican in the House, and two Democratic senators. The state government is about 2/3 Democratic. But the governor, currently in his second term, is Republican. He made it by focussing on business, the economy, taxes, and crime. He also made it by staying the hell away from MAGAhat culture-war issues.

Just a comparison, for whatever it may be worth.
It is difficult for a political to avoid all of those issues. In a constant battle for voters hearts one is almost obliged to take A stand.

I have been following levant for over 20 years. I had even subscribed to his damn "newspaper" years before rebel. That's where I was introduced to his mass emails begging for money because the dumb ass had opened his yap without thinking and was getting sued for it. One of the reasons he lost that original "newspaper".
