Trump Trails Biden by Widest National Polling Gap in Decades
The poll found that Biden has the backing of 52% of registered voters, compared to 37% for the president. The gap is historic for Trump, who as recently as May was trailing Biden by low-to-mid single digits. It's also a dramatic drop from Quinnipiac's poll released June 18th, when Biden was ahead, 49% to 41% for Trump.
Not since former President Bill Clinton's decisive advantage over Republican nominee Bob Dole has the polling gap been so wide in a respected national poll. And that was with a credible third-party candidate, Reform Party nominee Ross Perot, in the mix.
