Trump campaign denies Tik Tok users and K-pop fans sabotaged rally attendance numbers
The Trump campaign dismissed reports Sunday that the president’s sparsely attended rally in Tulsa, Okla., was sabotaged by internet-savvy teenagers, including Tik Tok users and fans of K-pop.
After several days of hype, including claims from campaign manager Brad Parscale that over 1 million requests for tickets had been received, Trump’s rally in Tulsa, intended as a kick-off for the 2020 election, was lightly attended on Saturday.
The Tulsa Fire Department said Sunday that
fewer than 6,200 people attended the rally at the Bank of Oklahoma Center, which can hold more than 19,000 people, not including suites and staff members.
After fewer people than expected showed up for the rally, planned speeches by Trump and Vice President Pence to an overflow crowd outside of the arena were quickly canceled and staging was disassembled.
The campaign blamed “radical protestors” interfering with attendees attempts to enter the arena or outright scaring them off, but no evidence has emerged to support that claim.
