Re: COVIDD-19 'Pandemic'

DO the math 37000000 million people in Canada, with 237 deaths is .000640%. Enough with the panic and fear mongering.

The news and politicians are blowing this up..

Yes people will die, but still more people die of car accidents, flu and cancer each year.. no quarantine.
Car accidents and Cancer are not contagious like a serious virus is.

Numbers are only relevant to each specific situation. One cannot overstate the seriousness of a virus like this.

Imagine the scenario if NOTHING was done to contain it?? Can one imagine living through the various ancient plagues where communication was limited, where medicine and knowledge were limited??

In a pandemic it is better to over react than under react. People have to take responsibility for their behavior and follow the guidelines. It is irresponsible no to. Unfortunate some people are like children.....and prefer to defy the guidelines.......at risk to themselves and more important....others.

The SNP government and Nicola Sturgeon make a mess of the situation in Scotland. Boris Johnson remains in hospital. Leaver Mark Francois destroys Remainer and the SNP's Westminster leader Iain Blackford’s demand that Brexit transition should be extended beyond 31st December.

Do you think you could set politics aside during this crisis.??

We are not in lockdown to keep people from getting the disease. Numbers I have heard is by the time it is done, about 70% of the population will have contracted it. The aim is to slow the spread to a pace which the medical infrastructure can handle it. Unrestricted, the hospitals would be overwhelmed and forced to make decisions that nobody wants them to make ... like which patient will get treated and which will die. Somewhere along the line the belief that somehow we won't get the disease has been born. If I have misinterpreted this belief from your post, I apologize.

There are no guarantees that one will not get the virus. One can only try to mitigate it as much as possible.

If no efforts were made......it would spread faster , be more lethal....and tax the medical infrastructure into a crisis of its own. If that happened....those kind of life /death decisions would factor in.

an aside: but I think that Ford is doing one heck of a good job handling this crisis. I am seeing Ontario in a whole new light ;-)

Re: COVIDD-19 'Pandemic'

Is there anything in Canada's lockdown rules which states that everyone has to be at home 24/7?
Are people not allowed to buy food, go to and from work and go for a walk?
After Perestroika two dogs in Moscow are talking;
"Are you doing better now?" "No the leash is still short and the food bowl too far. The only difference is I can bark whenever and as loud as I want."

There are shitloads at home who are sick and smart enough not to run for uneeded testing. Self assessment sites says anything with a lung infection is a run for help situation. I had a sore throat, earache and nasty lung pains over the weekend but it cleared up.

That may be true in Russia but it shouldn't apply in Great Britain.

School has been out for a long time Walter , worry about your children’s grammar , not mine . I do admit fewer works better .
Fewer is the correct werd.

Why should I?

Have you?

Last time I checked Britain is a democracy and politics is still going on here. I don't know about Canada.

Re: COVIDD-19 'Pandemic'

The number of coronavirus cases in the UK "could be moving in the right direction", the government's chief scientific adviser has said.

Speaking at the daily Downing Street briefing, Sir Patrick Vallance said it was "possible that we're beginning to see... the curve flattening".

He added, however, it would be another "week or so" before he could be sure.

The foreign secretary, meanwhile, said the PM, who is in intensive care, is in "good spirits" and "stable".

It comes as the number of coronavirus hospital deaths in the UK rose to 6,159 - a record increase of 786 in a day, the Department of Health and Social Care said, compared with 439 on Monday.

So far, 55,242 people have tested positive in the UK - an increase of 3,634 on Monday's figures.

Speaking about the number of new cases, Sir Patrick said: "It is possible that we're beginning to see... change in terms of the curve flattening a little bit.

"We won't know that for sure until a week or so. But what we're not seeing is an acceleration."
