♫ One of these things is not like the other, one of these things doesn't belong. ♫

Mother Teresa
Edward R. Murrow
Walter Cronkite
Stephen Hawking
Neil Armstrong
Sally Ride
and
Rush Limbaugh

Trump decorating Limbaugh last night with the Medal of Freedom was a reality TV show stunt at its best, meant to both please his base and anger his opposition. Rush Limbaugh is a bigoted, racist misogynistic blowhard and his being awarded this medal is obscene.

And before anyone thinks to comes back at me with the cancer card, save it. I have nothing but sympathy for him with his diagnosis and wish for him success in his treatment. For me that is above and separate from politics.

Saw a headline about this absurdity, Mockingbird. To me, it was more a fact of reality TV sinking to it's lowest common denominator.

As much as I find Limbaugh to be a completely loathsome character, his battle with cancer has nothing to do with my thoughts on this farcical gesture on Trump's part.

You've hit the nail on the head there, Mowich. There's two or three people on the forum who Trump has taken over their entire life for three years to the point they are obsessed with him and most other people are tired of them. They don't seem to realize 60 million people actually voted for him. (He'll likely get 70 million votes in November) :)
Well, JLM, IMHO it will be yet another sad day for the US when he is re-elected if for no other reason than his inability to comport himself in a manner befitting the leader of the free world. His behavior makes a mockery of the Presidency - mind you he is not the first President to bring shame upon himself while in office and most likely won't be the last. That he attained the Presidency at all can be laid firmly at the feet of the Democrats who chose to run an old hag whose over-weaning ambition saw her stand steadfast by her philandering husband when he too faced impeachment only to see her jump on the me2 bandwagon years later - as if she had any credibility regarding that issue at all. Considering what is happening with that party now, I don't see them getting any smarter or more able to defeat Trump. And that is a darn shame.

Hopefully voters will look at both accomplishment and failures before making an informed decision, in a perfect world anyway.
well..it is not a perfect world...... and one that is filled with biased emotional humans. It does not help the situation that so much info has been prevented from seeing the light of justice........ ( withheld documents, and witnesses). The electorate will be making their decisions on what has been made available............and their own biases.

cudos to Romney for his "profile in courage" statement. / position. He might get ostracized by DJ and others........ but he spoke with an eloquence not hard from any other Republican.

the question now is when & how will DJ set things up so he can be POTUS for life? In his mind he has Caarte Blanche now.

LOL..........POTUS for life, eh. Don't know all that much about the American constitution but I do believe there are articles in place that would prevent such from happening and I doubt that even Republicans would stand for him trying to tweak it so he might retain power for life. If the truth were known, I'd bet there are many Republicans who gladly be shed of the man.

Exactly, there were even some GOP Senators that didn't know the full story yet they refused to hear testimony/allow evidence. I say kudos as well to Romney, he followed through with the oath he swore at the onset of the trial while others in his party did crossword puzzles or played with their fidget-spinners refusing to look at the case as a whole.

Romney is taking a beating on social media yes, but there is also support for him as well.

And Trump has already pinned to the top of his Twitter page a video that says "Trump 4eva" and scrolls Trump signs for 2020, 2024, 2028, 2032 and on. Some think this a joke, others take it seriously.

I suppose all Presidents have had endeavours during their mandate at which they may have failed, although I can't really think of any with Trump, certainly no important ones. Sometimes things don't work out where no one is to blame. Some may include Korean Kim in that context, but Trump has certainly had more success than his predecessors.

If hillary is an "old hag".......what are men at the same age?? Are you suggesting that there be an age limit for running for POTUS??

re: her choice to stand by Bill..........how is that personal matter anyone's business??

I think "hag" has more to do with disposition than with age. :)

Well, I have to whole heartedly agree with you Mowich that he is certainly not the nicest person to have been elected President (IMO Ronald Reagan owns that honour) but I do think he is able to BE nice when the occasion calls for it. Performance of duties is top priority and working relationship with his foreign counterparts is also important. Being very strict when required is also important and I doubt if Trump has failed in that department.

Do you think that if he loses this election there will be a peaceful transition of power? And should he win this election after being impeached and later acquitted just think how emboldened he will become. Do you really think that he would not attempt to repeal the 22nd amendment? Donald Trump is a man who loathes nothing more than losing. It would not surprise me in any way to see him attempt to extend his presidency.

I think you made a slight typo, it should have read, Trump had more successes because of his predecessor.
