B.C. economy tops in Canada: Economic Forest Council

https://www.mycomoxvalleynow.com/60937/b-c-economy-tops-in-canada-economic-forest-council/

The province is saying that the B.C. economy is projected to outperform the rest of the country.

According to the Economic Forecast Council, the economy remains resilient amid global uncertainty, with steady growth over the forecast horizon

“From day one, we chose to invest in the people who power our province. Today, we’re seeing the results of those decisions as the Economic Forecast Council reaffirms its expectation that B.C.’s economy will outperform the country, despite global headwinds,” said Carole James, Minister of Finance.

“A resilient economy means British Columbia is well prepared to respond to global trade challenges, while continuing to deliver landmark investments in people and services.”

The council predicts that B.C. real gross domestic product (GDP) will grow by two percent in 2019, 2.4 percent in 2020 and 2.2 percent in 2021.

B.C. has the lowest unemployment rate in the country and is the only province in Canada with a triple-A credit rating from the three major international rating agencies.

Meanwhile, it retained its position atop the national leaderboard, with the strongest employment growth year-to-date to November.

The Economic Forecast Council includes some of Canada’s most respected independent forecasters who meet annually with the minister of finance to offer economic advice in advance of each year’s budget and fiscal plan.

The council will provide an updated economic forecast with the release of Budget 2020.

The Ministry of Finance’s First Quarterly Report, released on Sept. 10, forecast B.C. real GDP growth of 1.7 percent for 2019 and 1.9 percent for 2020.
The Economic Forecast Council projects Canadian real GDP growth of 1.5 percent for 2019 (versus two percent for B.C.), 1.7 percent for 2020 (versus 2.4 percent for B.C.) and 1.8 percent for 2021 (versus 2.2 percent for B.C.)
B.C. led all provinces by having the lowest unemployment rate for two years – one of the longest periods in more than a decade.

Yes hemerHOID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WE have seen how ACCURATE those LIE-beral predictions are!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They routinely SHAVE OFF MAJOR POINTS as reality intrudes on their ROSY PICTURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is an article illustrating how compulsively Red China wants to stage manage its place in the world - using a combination of propaganda and ruthless BULLYING!! With some comments of my own in brackets):

The strange tale of the paid protesters supporting Meng Wanzhou at her extradition hearing

By Karin Larsen, CBC News

Published January 21. 2020

Judge grills Meng's lawyers on double criminality issue

Demonstrators outside B.C. Supreme Court on Day 1 of Meng Wanzhou's extradition hearing Monday. Actor Julia Hackstaff, far right, says she was told she was appearing as an extra in a movie shoot.

(Yes - the reality of the Red Chinese savagery and slave labourers and general repression must be so carefully hidden that Fake protestors are required to HIDE the iron Soviet Chinese fist inside the velvet glove!! As if deliberately snatching two Cdns off a Beijing street and imprisoning them in solitary confinement in a show of SPITE at being caught conniving with Tehran Nuclear Nutbars was not bad enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Two people who demonstrated in support of Meng Wanzhou outside B.C. Supreme Court during her extradition hearing say they were unwittingly recruited under false pretences and paid to be there.

Meng, the CFO of Chinese tech giant Huawei, was arrested at Vancouver International Airport in December 2018 at the request of the U.S., which seeks to extradite her to face charges of fraud. A number of people showed up on the first day of her hearing Monday and held signs supporting her.

(The reality is that Ottawa should wash its hands of this wretched woman with her
happy disregard for United Nations sanctions against Iranian nutbars and her strong interest in selling us 5G technology that could - if activated by Red Chinese spies - do HUGE DAMAGE to our economy by shutting down critical infrastructure!! Picture the HUGE trouble that would ensue if half of all bank accounts in Canada suddenly DISAPPEARED and millions of Cdns were suddenly rendered penniless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

(Or consider the sudden loss of 50 percent of all hospital records related to critical care patients in hospitals!! Our health care system would be crippled by such a sudden loss of information about everything from ultrasound tests to blood tests and cancer patient treatments in progress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

For actor Julia Hackstaff of Vancouver it all started with a promise of $100 for two hours of work in what she understood to be an appearance as an extra in a movie shoot. Hackstaff said the offer came over Facebook from a person in the acting community she has never met.

"It's terrible, it's horrifying," she said. "I was sincerely going to participate in something that seemed cool and a nice opportunity. And they took advantage of my profession and my passion ... to make a false protest."

The second person, whom CBC News has agreed not to identify and will refer to as SP, said she was recruited by a friend promising a $150 payday just to show up at the courthouse and hold a sign.

"I was told it was to free Ms. Meng. I had never heard that name before in my life," said SP, also of Vancouver. "I had to go after and Google what Huawei was because I never heard that [name] before in my life. I didn't even know it was a company."

(SP LIVES in Vancouver and has NOT heard the name Meng before?? What kind of idiot is she?? Should we ask if she is a secret friend to Red China who did not expect her presence at a protest would be noticed?????????????)

Both women say they don't know who was ultimately offering the payment for their participation.

SP says a woman identified only as "Jowe" [pronounced "Joey"] handed out the signs at the courthouse.

"She didn't say much, she just shook our hands," said SP, who was standing with a small group of people. "She disappeared for a bit and came back and she had the red signs that you can see in the pictures a lot of people holding. So I assume either she made them or someone got them made for her, and she just basically handed them out. That was it. We were given no instruction, no information on what we're doing."

(NO need for a lot of talk just to set up a quick media photo shoot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Hackstaff says she and a friend were told by her contact to go to the Holiday Inn a few blocks away and then brought to the courthouse. When they arrived, they approached a group of young people who looked "lost" she assumed were background actors.

"I went and asked, 'Are you guys the extras?' And one guy said yes. He then asked me my name and my friend's name. So we gave him our first names and he checked on his phone like [as] if he had a list."

Hackstaff said she was handed a red sign that said "Free Ms. Meng, Equal Justice!" Soon after, she began questioning what was actually going on.

"A CBS reporter approached me and my friend and she started interviewing us. And it was in those moments and questions where I started realizing, OK, if this was background work, they wouldn't need detail on background people."

"And then I started realizing, wait, no one called 'action,'" she said.

Hackstaff says she "freaked out" when a second reporter approached, coming to the realization that the movie she thought she was appearing in was, in fact, something very real. She says that's when she left without being paid.

SP says her friend paid her $150 via an e-transfer. She says after she read up on Meng and Huawei, she feels deep regret at having participated in what she feels was a faux protest.

"I wasn't educated ... and that's a shame on me," she said. "I really wish there was a way to go back in time."

CBC News has left messages with the woman identified as Jowe. She has not responded.

(No - and Jowe aint likely to respond - she has gone back into the spy game shadows now that her little stunt has failed to gain sympathy for Meng!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

(In related news - one has to WONDER why in hell LIE-berals are screwing around with Meng?? After all its not like Canada HAS THE RESOURCES to verify her guilt or innocence related to her Iran activities!! Iran is a CLOSED SOCIETY and NOSY CDNS aint welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

(It looks as if Meng has become a LIE-beral political football!! Our idiot Boy Justin is NOTORIOUS for his friendly regard towards Red China and it certainly LOOKS AS IF the idiot Boy is looking for some way to release Meng in order to curry favour with his Beijing Butcher pals - but without further hurting U.S. - Canada relations any more than he already has!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Nobody wants oil stocks.

This is the theory that Cramer has and it would be worth considering if you happen to be one of those people stupid enough to own oil and gas stocks in the first place

Of the 500 large companies included in the S&P 500 in the U.S., 11 percent of the total market value comes from energy sector companies... These are just the large oil companies

Apparently there are a crap-ton of people that demand oil company stocks

Of the top ten largest companies on the stock market only one of them is an oil company.

It's Exxon.

It's number 10.

The number of people wanting oil stocks in their portfolio is declining every day.

I can’t seem to open Colpy’s Libaranos thread .

Maybe it's Trudeau and his Ministry of Truth blocking it. I don't think Ezra had an official Trudeau government issue "media license" to write such a book, so it's fake news and therefore forever condemned to the memory hole.

I've only been on the forum since October, but I notice you have been repeating the same old song and dance every couple of days. How long have you been advising us that the oil and gas sector is going to be obsolete in 20 years?

Hey- Common sense alone should tell you the idea is not only idiotic, but insane not to mention impossible. What product do we have that will replace the properties of both gas and oil? The only medium that is only remotely possible to replace gas and oil itself depends on the existence of gas and oil. Virtually every sensible poster on this forum has been advising that particular member that he is in fact an idiot. One more fact, my truck has a life expectancy of more than 20 years which rules that possibility out! :)

Northern Ontario,
Sooner or later a new source of energy for vehicles is going to come out to replace gasoline in the future, but using fear of global warming push people to buy battery powered vehicles before they are ready for all types of climate condition will not work.
When they do find it, mass production and competition for buyers will no doubt reduce the price so that it is affordable to the general public!

Everything we have today is obsolete thanks to graphene. The future looks pretty damn cool Climate scam or no climate scam the next 10 years will be amazing.

As I said. everything new is already obsolete. Graphene phone batteries that charge in 20 mins and last a week are a couple months away.

Graphene microprocessors and circuitry are crazy small and crazy fast using SFA for current.

Then there are the physical attributes as a material. Super lightweight and super strong.

HOW TOXIC do you suppose the stuff is???????????????

And wiull it make electric TOY acrs EVEN MORE COSTLY?????????????????

There are a LOT of unknown issues with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Energy storage

Because graphene is the world's thinnest material, it is also the material with the highest surface-area to volume ratio. This makes graphene a very promising material to be used in batteries and supercapacitors. Graphene may enable batteries and supercapacitors (and even fuel-cells) that can store more energy - and charge faster, too.

(NOTE THOSE QUALIFYING WORDS - "PROMISING" AND "MAY" above!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

The latest Graphene Application news:

Directa Plus wins second contract for graphene-based oil clean-up product

(Cleaning up oil quickly and easily IS A GOOD THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

(But wont that make continued use of oil MORE ATTRACTIVE if it is more easily cleaned up?????????????????)

(Oh dear - should we talk about UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES now???????????????)

Directa Plus has reportedly won a second contract for its graphene-enhanced oil contaminant treatment Grafysorber through subsidiary Setcar. The contract is with GSP Offshore, part of the Romanian oil services group GSP, and worth €5 million over a seven-year period.
GSP already has an eight-year agreement with Romanian oil and gas group OMV Petrom, another partner of Directa Plus. Setcar will treat oil-contaminated water and soil, residual drilling fluids treatment and clean oil storage tanks.

Graphene shows excellent resistance to stress

Researchers from the University of Toronto have shown that graphene is highly resistant to fatigue and is able to withstand more than a billion cycles of high stress before it breaks.
The intrinsic strength of graphene has been measured at more than 100 gigapascals, among the highest values recorded for any material. But materials don't always fail because the load exceeds their maximum strength. Stresses that are small but repetitive can weaken materials by causing microscopic dislocations and fractures that slowly accumulate over time, a process known as fatigue.

NIST-led team uses graphene to create and image coupled quantum dots

Researchers at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and their colleagues have used graphene and STM technology to create and image a novel pair of quantum dots — tiny islands of confined electric charge that act like interacting artificial atoms. Such “coupled” quantum dots could serve as a robust quantum bit, or qubit, the fundamental unit of information for a quantum computer. Moreover, the patterns of electric charge in the island can’t be fully explained by current models of quantum physics, offering an opportunity to investigate rich new physical phenomena in materials.
a system of coupled quantum dots taken by STM shows electrons orbiting within two concentric sets of rings, separated by a gap. The inner set of rings represents one quantum dot; the outer, brighter set represents a larger, outer quantum dot. Credit: NIST
The NIST -led team included researchers from the University of Maryland NanoCenter and the National Institute for Materials Science in Japan. The team used the ultrasharp tip of a scanning tunneling microscope (STM) as if it were a stylus of sorts. Hovering the tip above an ultracold sheet of graphene, the researchers briefly increased the voltage of the tip.

German researchers examine how proximity affects the resistance of graphene

A research team from the University of Göttingen, together with the Chemnitz University of Technology and the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt Braunschweig, has investigated the influence of the crystal on which graphene is grown, on the electrical resistance of the resulting material.
Contrary to previous assumptions, the new results show that the process known as the ‘proximity effect’ varies considerably at a nanometre scale. To determine the electrical resistance of graphene at the smallest scale possible, the physicists used a scanning tunneling microscope (STM).
