Trump forced to take a back seat in his impeachment defense as Senate trial begins

With the impeachment trial set to begin this week, President Donald Trump is finding himself in an uncomfortable position: taking a back seat as someone else mounts his public defense.

Trump has until now been his own most vocal defender but he will hand over the reins for one of the most crucial moments of his presidency to his legal team. The president will have no choice but to watch along with the rest of the public.

Trump is exactly the type of POTUS that the founding fathers were afaid of..........thus creating the impeachment process.

Oh Trump will be watching in real time, and he will be tweeting relentlessly the whole time, which could create problems. We all know how unhinged his tweets can be. This paragraph taken from the above posted article touches on that risk:

But if Trump weighs in, he also risks undermining his own defense. He has done so in the past, as when he acknowledged in a television interview that the firing of FBI Director James Comey was related to the Russia investigation.

His crazy ( and they are a public statement of his mental instability) tweeting serves as a distraction........inhis mind. Also keeps the attention on him........... Either way....very immature and petulant. Hee is a very angry man who overreacts to anything negative stated about him.........and must get his juvenile revenge.

His supporters see this as "not backing down..........even if it hurts him.... He is a BULLY and brings out the bully in his supporters. They might even see themselves in him.

personally I avoid any of his tweet trashing .....as they are just too hate and revenge filled. If he needs an outlet for his rage and hate so badly ........and he does.........why not see a psychiatrist.?? At least that might be helpful. But he does no recognize that he has a problem.

Yeah, I'm not seeing him keeping silent or in the background either. One of his defense people says one thing he doesn't agree with, even if trying to protect him, he'll fuk it up by tweeting against what they said.

Honestly, I think the whole thing is going to be a shyteshow.

Senate must 'eliminate the threat that the president poses to Americas national security,' House impeachment managers argue in brief

The seven Democratic managers released a 111-page brief on Saturday before the trial of President Trump begins in earnest on Tuesday.
The filing comes after the House impeached Trump last month on charges of abusing power and obstructing Congress. "The evidence overwhelmingly establishes that he is guilty of both," the managers write in the brief. "The only remaining question is whether the members of the Senate will accept and carry out the responsibility placed on them by the Framers of our Constitution and their constitutional Oaths."

as the drama unfolds.
What drama ? The partisan house impeached and the partisan senate acquits. Such drama .

I check out his tweets from time to time to see what kind of nonsense he is tweeting, and to see the latest lies. And you're right, many of his supporters see him as a tough guy while others see him for what he is, a thug and a bully.

Well you seem to think I'm important enough to follow around. Why is it you desire so much of my time and attention? I mean I'm flattered, don't get me wrong but I'm truly curious, what it it about me that attracts you so?

It would be in Trumps best interest to keep silent and let his defense present their case without being concerned about how he will publicly react. But no one here is fool enough to believe Trump will remain silent. I think there are a lot of heated exchanges to come, and a lot of heated tweets lol. And even though the outcome is a given, I am interested in watching the trial play out.

Lol, too funny. I am sure I wouldn't be good looking enough for some here considering the judgement they have already made about me. And funny you should say that, I am a photographer but one that always stands behind a camera, never in front of one.

Dershowitz playing down his role in Trumps defense. Could it be that some on the team may be on edge with how Trump will react/respond to the trial?

good oint. Trump controls the senate and now these guys using his destructive tweets. He makes things ugly and
personal.......with his name calling... Most wil try to avoid putting themselves on Trump's trashing block, so they go along with him..........and act like they support him Some actually do. I Have read that the senate is afraid of him.......and they want to keep their jobs. People who work for him are afraid of his wrath and vengeful behavior. He cannot deal with not being liked or respected......andyet behaves ina manner that creates a negative atmosphere. that is how insecure he is.

IF you have had any negative feedback..........I venture it is from trump supporters. They behave like Trump. No couth. They like to do name calling like Trump does.

I find it best to keep most of them on ignore...........just for that reason. They attack posters as opposed to discussing the topic.

I have read the same, and it's a shame that others in the GOP are too afraid to stand up to him. They really sold out.

Oh it has been from some Trump supporters, not all but some. I am beginning to see that there are a number of posters here (a very small number thankfully) who post simply to instigate. Who when they have nothing to contribute to the conversation fall back on insults and aggression. But I have been on a few message boards in my day and it's par for the course. I could ignore but that's not me, whether they're on ignore or not it makes no difference because I don't much concern myself with what they have to say. I will try to encourage debate with them though, to try to find a common ground. Sometimes it works out that way, other times it doesn't. C'est la vie.

Ironic isn't it, a guy who has the talent to become President of the strongest country in the world is insecure. He has the power to do so much good for the world.

Ironic isn't it, a guy who has the talent to become President of the strongest country in the world is insecure. He has the power to do so much good for the world.

He does, and I do believe that he has done good in the world. He's employed a great number of people with his many businesses, he has raised a great deal of money through charities, he is obviously very apt at branding his name. And I do believe he has inspired people to better their lives. So there's that.... it was like pulling teeth but there I said it lol. ALTHOUGH many of his dealings HAVE come under scrutiny. I couldn't resist that tag.

As far as him having had the "talent" to become President? Eh, that's a tough one for me. I see Trumps success in being elected as more of a result of tapping into America's hatred, and yes their frustrations as well, but more so their hatred. And I don't say that in a derogatory way, or maybe I do somewhat but don't want to if that makes sense. But I do think he tapped into hatred and intolerance with his rhetoric about Mexicans being rapists and drug dealers, all Muslims being bad (reflective in his Muslim travel ban) and how the Dems want to destroy their lives. He was belligerent, insulting and dismissive in all televised debates and many Americans saw that as something fresh and new. Someone running for office was saying what they said at home. Someone was emulating them and they liked it. Some however who did vote for him later came to regret it, but that's another conversation.

So what some see as talent, which is fine, others see as appealing to like minded people. But yep, he did it, he won and that can't be taken away from him. Or can it? Lol, one can dream.
