Are there not cities or counties that have outlawed fireplaces? I thought I heard something about that. Nothing like making sure peons freeze to death after ever increasing utility costs that some can't afford and can't burn wood either because it's illegal. I may be wrong about it as maybe it was only being looked at but I'm wondering if this regulation was ever put in place?
Dixie you are not entirely correct on the fireplace issue...............................
for instance in Britain a fireplace IS STILL LEGAL IF.........................
you install on the chimney the sort of air scrubbers that are
used IN NUCLEAR SUBMARINES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thus a fireplace or wood stove is still legal IF YOU HAVE ENOUGH GRAVY to pay for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Most people DO NOT - thus a fireplace or wood stove is essentially illegal in Britain for most people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The city of Montreal has recently - meaning a couple years back - MANDATED that any wood burning device MUST PASS an air
quality test related to the particulate matter it emits - the newer air tight wood stoves and fireplace inserts BURN CLEANER................
with less particulate matter emitted than older units and Montreal has ordered that NONE of the older units may be sold or installed
there any longer .............................and further they order that any existing unit MUST BE IMMEDIATELY TESTED at owners
expense and if it fails the test then it MUST BE IMMEDIATELY SCRAPPED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Other cities are considering the Montreal style legislation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The big issue is how many people in a district still use wood for heating etc....................................
and how many votes might be lost if draconian legislation is introduced!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
