Donald Trump, again, falsely says Obama had family separation policy

President Donald Trump, in an interview with the Spanish-language TV network Telemundo, adamantly claimed that the separation of immigrant families at the border during his presidency happened because of an Obama policy. That’s not true.
José Díaz-Balart, anchor of "Noticias Telemundo," asked Trump if his "zero-tolerance" immigration policy was a mistake. The Trump policy called for the prosecution of all adults who crossed the border illegally; when parents came in with children, the families were separated.
In the interview that aired June 20, Trump said it was not a mistake. He argued that separations were due to an Obama policy and that Trump himself wanted families together.
"We had separations," Trump said. "When I became president, President Obama had a separation policy. I didn’t have it. He had it. I brought the families together. I’m the one that put them together."
Díaz-Balart said that despite 2,800 recent reunifications, the government still doesn’t know how many children are still separated from their parents.

AOC says Ivanka Trump not ‘a qualified diplomat’ in tweet about first daughter’s involvement at G-20

U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is apparently not happy that first daughter Ivanka Trump accompanied her father on his trip to the G-20 summit.
The Democrat from New York commented on Twitter late Saturday after a BBC reporter posted a video showing Ivanka Trump alongside her father in a G-20 discussion that included French President Emmanuel Macron, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and other leaders.
“It may be shocking to some, but being someone’s daughter actually isn’t a career qualification,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter. “It hurts our diplomatic standing when the President phones it in & the world moves on. The US needs our President working the G20. Bringing a qualified diplomat couldn’t hurt either.”

During the global event in Osaka, Japan, Ivanka Trump represented the U.S. in meetings with leaders from China, Japan, Russia, India and Australia, the South China Morning Post reported.
She also led the U.S. delegation in a special discussion on women’s economic empowerment.
Before traveling to Asia, Ivanka Trump noted that the U.S. was the only country planning to bring an entirely female negotiating team to G-20.
Prior to her father taking office in 2017, Ivanka Trump, 37, was an executive vice president with the Trump Organization.
While other critics besides Ocasio-Cortez have criticized the president for giving roles in his administration to his daughter and her husband, Jared Kushner, Ocasio-Cortez has faced complaints regarding her boyfriend, Riley Roberts.
Earlier this year it was revealed that Roberts had received $6,000 from a political action committee linked to Ocasio-Cortez during her congressional campaign.
The Federal Election Commission recently told the PAC, Justice Democrats, that it has opened an investigation into the allegation as well as other claims, Independent Journal Review reported.
That same month, Ocasio-Cortez faced ethics questions after reports that Roberts had received a congressional email account. Then more allegations followed.

Yesterday Snoop Dogg, the official state Dogg of California, publicly called out Terminator Emeritus Arnold Schwarzenegger on Instagram, referring to the former governor as a “straight bitch,” a “punk,” and a “racist.” Snoop’s diatribe is predicated on what he sees as disparate treatment of criminals by the Austrian actor. He points out that as governor, Schwarzenegger commuted the sentence of Esteban Nuñez, son of Fabian Nuñez, a California state Assembly speaker and a political ally of Schwarzenegger’s, while allowing Stanley “Tookie” Williams, a former Crip gang leader who in later years had spoken out against violence, to be executed in 2005.

Esteban Nuñez went to jail in 2010 on a manslaughter charge after participating in the 2008 murder of Luis Santos. After Schwarzenegger’s intervention, Nuñez ended up serving less than six of the 16 years of his sentence, and was released this past Sunday. “My son [was] stabbed in the heart when he was alive,” Fred Santos, Luis's father told CNN last year. “Schwarzenegger stabbed him in the back after my son is killed.”

Tookie Williams, on the other hand, went to jail for four murders in 1979 and is one of the founders of the Crips, but then spent much of his time in prison condemning his own crimes, composing anti-gang violence literature and even writing children’s books warning against the dangers of gangs. Williams’ repentance and subsequent good works seemed apparent to many onlookers who followed his life in the 25 years after his criminal undertakings. That’s why, despite his background and contribution to California’s gang culture, prominent figures like South African Bishop Desmond Tutu and Joan Baez fought to stop Williams’ execution. Williams was even nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize.

"Snoop Doggie Dog" ... that great American orator and commentator ...

I'm still waiting for Kim Kardasian's tome on American immigration policy before I make up my mind.
