Does this go under gun crime in a gunfree area, or under climate change crime, or should it be filed under broken liebarrel economy?

People robbed of Canada Goose coats at gunpoint in Chicago

Chicago police are reporting gunpoint robberies targeting people wearing pricey Canada Goose jackets as temperatures plunge in the city.

Over the past two weeks, police say there's been a spate of the thefts in which people wearing the luxury coats have been targeted and forced to give up the jackets. The coats can cost upward of $1,000 and are often seen on celebrities.

Six people had their Canada Goose coats stolen last week and two more were targeted Wednesday.

Police say two men jumped from a Mercedes, showed a gun and punched a 54-year-old man before forcibly taking his coat and wallet Wednesday. The same night, two men showed a gun to a 23-year-old man walking with a friend and demanded his Canada Goose coat.

Surveillance footage showed a man being robbed of his coat, the Washington Post reported.

No one has been arrested in connection with the robberies.

The coats retail from $500 to $1,200, according to its website. The most expensive coat on the site currently costs $1,695. The popular jackets are recognizable by a patch on the coat’s arm that says “Canada Goose Arctic Program.” The jackets have been seen on a number of celebrities including rapper Drake and model Kate Upton.

The Associated Press and Fox News contributed to this report.

Chicago’s record for coldest temperature ever could fall as polar vortex has city ‘in the crosshairs’

ne of the coldest air masses in years will envelop the Midwest and the Northeast this week bringing potentially life-threatening low temperatures to the Chicago area that will feel even harsher in tandem with strong winds.

In Chicago, the coldest temperatures of the year will arrive midweek. After seeing a high around 34 on Monday at O’Hare International Airport, temperatures will drop to near zero before the end of the day, according to the National Weather Service. By Tuesday night, temperatures are expected to take another plunge, to 23 below zero, flirting with Chicago’s coldest temperature ever: minus 27 on Jan. 20, 1985.

Temperatures are forecast to inch up to a daytime high of about minus 14 on Wednesday — the first subzero high temperature in five years and the coldest winter high ever recorded in Chicago — before dipping, again, to about minus 21 overnight. The coldest daytime high in Chicago was minus 11 on Christmas Eve 1983.

For younger Chicagoans, the burst of Arctic air set to overtake the city this week could be one of the coldest days of their lives. For Generation Z, this week’s predicted low temperatures have only two rivals: minus 16 on Jan. 6, 2014, and minus 19 on Feb. 3, 1996.

Cold enough to freeze all the whining in the bottom of a lie barrel.

The Econuts should not have fear though. By the end of the year the actual temperatures will be adjusted to fit the desired results... as always.

LOL I adjust my climate by wearing arctic army gear and dunlop boots.
:)
There is nothing like the walk out to the ice fishing shack when the sun is out and it's - 30 deg below.

One pair of socks and no felts...and two pike the other day.

It could be the coldest day in this Ontario city's history

Sunday, January 27, 2019, 8:05 PM - A lobe of the polar vortex is on an express route to extreme southwestern Ontario later on Tuesday, lingering well into Wednesday. What's the big deal? Well, all-time record minimum high temperatures are expected to be at least challenged on Wednesday for parts of southern Ontario.

The 24 hour darkness on the highest latitudes foster the coldest air in the world. By Tuesday, the true arctic air slices across Manitoba, and then dips unusually far south then what is normally anticipated on Wednesday towards the Great Lakes.

The centre of the cold upper trough is expected to be plopped over northern Michigan by early Wednesday morning, so temperatures are not expected to rise throughout Wednesday, and will even likely fall throughout the day in some locations.

These temperatures are life-threatening, especially when paired with even modest amounts of wind, pushing the feels like values towards the -40's.

Yeah global harming is setting in...

Looks like it will take two toilet roll heaters to keep the shack warm in this weather. Not many know bootlegging was invented to keep your beers from freezing when one is outside in this stuff.

They miss the illogical scientist Dex. Nobody said facts arrived as good news, news is all that has to be fulfilled. Facts are to to be fawned over either, it creates a bottleneck at the 'incoming pipe'. Nobody cares if the introduced delays last until the next lifetime. In hindsight all will agree that it was too bad it happened but it was a good thing that it didn't last longer than it did.

Sometimes people just walk on the snow and fill in the holes with something like a lawn-rake. The roof still needs the wire trick installed in the summer.

Record snow in Ottawa for January...and still time to go this month.

Well...since records were started in 1938...

Say, were the two mile high glacier CLIFFYs that used to cover Ottawa in that time period?

"SCREAMING BARFIES" are the only way to describe the Prairie cold right now

It's so cold in Saskatchewan that paying at the gas pump is impossible

Gee, I hate to think of what global cooling might be like.

Meanwhile Australia and Tasmania are on fire. Just because the weather is cold here doesn't mean the world is not heating up. You should do some research on the difference between weather systems and climate. They are two different things.

Not to worry! Our gormless climate denying internet hillbillies up here have ALL declared that a new Ice Age is upon us because it's really cold the last week in January.

You can't deny the logic.
