A Toronto native is one of the 11 people who died at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh on Saturday.
Joyce Fienberg, 75, grew up in Toronto’s Holy Blossom Temple community and still has family here. She was among the victims, aged 54 to 97, who were killed during worship services at Tree Of Life when a gunman entered the building and started shooting.
Fienberg has two sons and six grandchildren. According to AP, she was a former researcher at the University of Pittsburgh’s Learning Research and Development Center.
Fienberg and her late husband, respected academic and statistician Dr. Stephen Fienberg, were both born in Toronto and were married at Holy Blossom in 1965. They moved to the U.S. while he finished a PhD at Harvard in the late ‘60s and eventually found their way to Pittsburgh when Dr. Feinberg joined the Statistics department at Carnegie Mellon.

Rabbi Yael Splansky of Holy Blossom posted on Facebook, “Joyce Fienberg z”l, one of the eleven, grew up at Holy Blossom Temple. I did not know her. She was married here before my time. But I walk past her every day — her Confirmation Class photo is on our wall of honour.”
Splansky listed the names and ages of all the victims in her post, adding, “They knew who they were. They knew to Whom they belonged. And now the whole world knows, too. Zichronam livrachah. May their memories be for blessing.”
The suspect in the Pittsburgh shooting, Robert Gregory Bowers, faces 29 criminal charges in the synagogue shooting. Hate crime charges have been filed against him by federal prosecutors, which means the death penalty is a possibility if Bowers is convicted.

White Unifier,

I was Jest Keeding!

And I admit I was wrong on the political leanings of the pipe bomber. I just thought because nobody was actually getting killed, it may just be a threat before the midterms by a loony Lefty. Turns out it was a not-so-bright Righty...my bad.

And a Native American at that!

The neighbours should all rush in and harvest the human organs from the deceased and have them on standby for transplanting into the Unarmed Palestinians being shot for protesting at the border fence in Israel.
Gee whiz, I thought the Nazis had been eliminated long ago.

Silly me!

After reading that revolting post I need a second shower. (Gag)

Hollywood Blames Trump and His Supporters for Synagogue Shooting: ‘This sh*t Is On YOU. IT’S YOUR FAULT’ (15 Pics)
A slew of Hollywood celebrities rushed to social media on Saturday to heap blame on President Donald Trump, his supporters, and lawful gun owners mere moments after a shooter opened fire at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh.
“As an American Jew I feel nauseous. And if you support Donald Trump you should too because this shit is on YOU. IT’S YOUR FAULT,” actor Ike Barinholtz wrote. “Remember that tonight as you’re trying to go to sleep.”

I try to do a lot of reading and very little talking for about a week after an 'event'. I don't have have a problem with swat like guards being allowed as long as Churches and Mosques are as protected as Synagogues.

Hollywied is a Jewish strong-hold just like certain parts of NY. I'm pretty sire that Donald and Hillary are both Israeli friendly just based on the 90 min meetings they had in private with Bibi before the 1st debate. (yet Russia has been under investigation since trump sign in as the Boss) Come on, people are shy about speaking up, they are not blind or stupid.
Are you upset, sure who wouldn't be, or are you upset with me for some reason?

It would help if the militants weren't paying them to protest. They'd rather be at home with their families but since Hamas has other ideas like killing Muslims and Jews for their evil ideology, there is no hope for the citizens of the area to work and be productive because that goes against all of what Hamas stands for! Too bad you can't see that but then you are blinded by hate.

Trump a 'purveyor of hate speech' and not welcome in Pittsburgh, says synagogue leader

As the faith leadership in Squirrel Hill prepared funeral arrangements for those killed, Tree of Life rabbi Jeffrey Myers told CNN on Monday he would welcome the president to the city.
“I don’t really foist blame upon any person,” Myers said. “Hate does not know religion, race, creed political party – it’s not a political issue in any way shape or form. Hate does not know any of those things, it exists in all people.”
He added: “The president of the United States is always welcome to come. I’m a citizen, he’s my president. He’s certainly welcome.”

Flowers sit at a makeshift memorial at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Sunday, Oct. 28, 2018. Robert Bowers, the suspect in Saturday's mass shooting at the synagogue, expressed hatred of Jews during the rampage and told officers afterward that Jews were committing genocide and he wanted them all to die, according to charging documents made public Sunday.Matt Rourke / AP
COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Halloween venue in Ohio that held a “Swastika Saturday” the day a gunman opened fire at a Jewish synagogue in Pittsburgh killing 11 said “we screwed up big time.”
Haunted Hoochie in Pataskala put out a Facebook promotional post that day referring to “Swastika Saturday.” The owner says it’s the traditional last day of the season when some actors paint swastikas on themselves.

Some on social media accused the haunted house attraction of anti-Semitism and Nazism.
Haunted Hoochie said in a post Sunday that the attraction shows the “horrors of the world.” But owner Tim May said Monday his posts were mistakenly taken to mean he was defending “horrible deplorables.”
He later issued a statement saying “we screwed up big time,” pledging US$50,000 to the synagogue and extending condolences to families affected by the shooting.

Anti-Semitism is sort of like Cancer ....

When cancer is discussed within the media, it is all about finding a cure ..... not about finding or discussing the cause.

How is it possible that 18 million people attract such a sense of mistrust and betrayal? What are these 18 million people accused of having done?

People are not born anti-semitic. It is not because of a food additive or chemical found within their breakfast cereal which caused the cancer.

It is time to investigate the cause rather than the cure.

The cause is not very difficult to get at.

We are talking about creatures who hate and fear one another and have a long history of killing each other both individually and in giant coordinated efforts.

Hi! Hoid

I agree that human beings are into violence ...... but I asked what was the cause of anti-Semitism? Why are such a small group of human beings attacked or blamed for the worlds problems? Why not the Poles or the Irish?

When I mentioned or compared "Cancer" ..... it has always irritated me that our media keeps begging for funding towards finding a "Cure" for cancer when in fact they should be begging for funding towards finding the causes of cancer.

What do or what have 18 million people done/continue to do in order to be the brunt of such mistrust?

Probably able to resist adding a troll posts. Nobody who does that will even offer an opinion on when a chute will open on Mars as it would means agreeing with me. Talk about unwanted power, good thing I'm not the kind to take advantage of that right rather than maxing out that temporary advantage.

It's a bit messier than it needs to be but I'm on 'get rid of the chaff mode' at the moment and what's left is what's left.
