MONTREAL — Canada Post says it has spoken to a Montreal mail carrier who can be seen on video on four separate days pilfering tomatoes from a hanging basket outside a home.
Spokesman Jon Hamilton says in an email to The Canadian Press the corporation has apologized to the customer and that the employee’s behaviour was not appropriate.
CTV Montreal broadcast footage from a security camera showing the mail carrier munching away on the fruit on four separate days — June 29 and July 3, 5 and 9.
Resident Paula Habib told the TV network she initially thought squirrels were responsible for the larceny.
She said she would forgive the mailman if he replaced the plant or dropped off some tomato sauce.
Hamilton says Canada Post has spoken to the employee but will not be offering further comment.
Habib, meanwhile, called the postman’s behaviour “rude.”
“He never came to the door and said, ‘Look, I took one of your tomatoes and it was really good,’ or made a joke about it,” she said. “He was just doing it and couldn’t care less.”
The network said the mail carrier was even spotted helping himself to a neighbour’s strawberries.

MONTREAL — Canada Post says a supervisor has apologized in person to a Montreal woman whose tomatoes were pilfered by a mail carrier.
Spokesman Jon Hamilton says in an email to The Canadian Press the supervisor also brought the woman tomatoes as a goodwill gesture.
The mail carrier can be seen on video on four separate days in late June and earlier this month munching away on tomatoes from a hanging basket outside a home.
Hamilton did not answer a question about whether the mailman would keep the same route.
Canada Post has said the employee’s behaviour was not appropriate.
CTV Montreal broadcast footage earlier this week from a security camera showing the mail carrier eating the fruit, and resident Paula Habib told the TV network she initially thought squirrels were responsible for the larceny.
Habib called the postman’s behavior “rude” but said Friday she is happy with the way Canada Post has dealth with the matter.
CTV said the mail carrier was even spotted helping himself to a neighbour’s strawberries.
The Canada Post supervisor told Habib the mailman “feels very bad” about the incident.

A compliment to the homeowner for producing such a tasty crop. Hopefully the carrier will make an appropriate apology and restitution.

You can sure tell YOU were called a teacher.

Kids are glad you retired eh?

Ps
As it happens, we don't have "safeways" in this part of Ontario, dooood.

The problem is, I doubt you were joking. I expect that you don't have palm trees in your part of Ontario either, but that does not mean they don't exist except in your mind.

BTW since almost all of your posts are a joke it is difficult to tell when you are actually trying to be funny.

Never done that myself. I Worked in a small privately owned grocery store as a teenager. I have some respect.

Only lowlifes, thieves, and hypocrites do that STEALING sort of thing. If not at safeway, it will be out of places like your medicine cabinet when you are kind enough to let them use your bathroom.
;)
So take your little stone back dear...you know what pocket to thumb it in.

Oh high BAR, you too...after stealing a lifetime from the public purse (and while throwing stones), what's stealing a bunch of grapes at safeway, eh?
