Okay, we are on the board with three more points and the D is still rockin' the field. Zach is settling down and making some good throws. I'm breathin' a bit easier.....for now.

I guess the Humboldt strong collectables can't be bought locally.

Not in my neck of the woods, spam.

Freakin' beautiful play by Gainey to deny a big gain of yards for the Argos.

Man oh man.........this is the defense that Jones was so famous for when he coached other teams.......so good to see it alive and well and wearing Rider Green.

There goes Caleb with his fist high-light reel catch.

Zach to Rosy...............TDDDDDDDDDDD! Rock on Riders.

The 13th man in the stands just cost the Argos a 5-yard delay of game penalty. Rock on Rider Nation.

Jerome Messam.........the Riders own Energizer Bunny

Zach has found his rhythm and his receivers and the D is just killing the Argos offense..........all is well in Rider Nation.

We came up short of a TD when Labatte drew a penalty for illegal procedure but Brett Lauther put 3 more on the board to give us a 14 - 1 lead over the Argos with just over 2:10 left in the game.

Oh, oh Ricky's found some rhythm..........but just in time, the D comes up with a big sack by no other than Charleston Hughes. Ricky misses his target with an overthrow as he's pressured by our wonderful defensive line.

The Riders turn the ball over on a fumble then Charleston Sacks Ricky on the Argos play - his third of the night so far. Argos settle for a 3-pointer and we go to the half up by 10 points.

7:14 in the 4th, Marshall intercepts Ricky Ray and runs the ball all the way back for a TD - a much deserved one for this awesome defense of ours. And the Riders lead by 12 points. We needed a big play there as Ricky was finding his receivers way too easily and the Argos had their ground game going pretty well.

Well boys and girls, you can put this one in the win column for the Green and White!

27 - 19 for the Good Guys!

Loved it. They played extremely well. Synced.

I really was worried when I first found out that it was Ricky Ray's Argos we were playing, pete. Knowing Ricky's ability to find his receivers no matter the pressure had me wondering just what we had to do to contain him and Wilder - the other threat I worried about. Absolutely over the moon that our defense nullified all those worries with an outstanding performance last night. Man, if they keep improving we are going to be a threat to all the other teams. Now we just need a bit more work on the offensive side and, as always, a end to stupid penalties.

They didn't just stop Ray, they stopped his coach who is the best quarterback in the world.

If Anthony Calvillo couldnt find a way past our defence from up in the booth, Ray sure as shit wasn't going to do it on the field.

Then there is our offence that gelled right from kick off.

Disciplined with few mistakes.

Let's hope this team stays this way.

I'd have to say that once Anthony retired, Ricky became the guy to beat Pete. He's got 4 championships under his belt - no small achievement in our league. I agree that if Anthony couldn't figure out our D then Ricky didn't have a hope on the field.

Not to dither too much but Zach did struggle a bit in the first few opening series - not all on him considering the bad snaps - but got on track before the end of the 1rst Q and looked solid after that. One wise-ass on the Sask forum wondered if he was only 4 feet tall when he couldn't get the ball over the hands of the Argo defenders - that did find me chuckling a bit. He found 9 different receivers in the game which bodes well for our offense in the coming weeks.

I keep coming back to our defense as they were just so impressive yesterday. I do really believe that Jonesy has finally found the right formula.

Ti-Cats with the lead 7 - 6 at the end of the opening Q. Jeremiah threw a bomb to Mike Jones - a 65 yarder that put the team in the red zone. A nice fake hand-off, Mazoli keeps the ball and waltzes over the goal line. Nicely done, guys.

An illegal block wiped out a fantastic punt return for a TD on the opening series of the 2nd Q for the Cats.......boooo.

Ti-Cats still maintaining the lead going into the half. Boo Levi is not having a good day.....heh, heh, heh

24 - 14 in favor of the Stumps.......ugh. The Cats let their foot off the gas in the second half and Boo and the boys took control of the game and never looked back. Nail in the coffin for Hamilton was a poor judgement call that saw him throw an interception late in the 4th.......and that's all she wrote. Darn it.

Second game of tonight's double-header features BC Lions at home to the Montreal Alouettes. Have a feeling that BC may come out the victors in this one.

We are just into the second half of the game and so far, and much to my surprise, the Al's have a very slim lead over the Lions. Drew is having himself a good night. Jennings is doing well but BC is taking a lot of stupid senseless penalties. And too, the Montreal defense are managing to contain the Lions pretty well.

This theme appears to be familiar. West team beats east team. Only eastern team which did not lose was Ottawa. They achieved this feat by not playing.

Only western team to lose was Winnipeg. This was because they are A) not really west and B) played another western team.

The Riders won last night beating the Cats 18 - 13 but it wasn't the coaching that took the day - it was the players on the field who somehow in spite of the QB merry-go-round and the idiotic use of Duron Carter as a defensive CB managed to pull off what looked like a sure thing for Hamilton. As Matt Dunigan was heard to opine during half-time, Coach Jones' ego is getting in the way of decent management of the team. This one was a defensive win as the offense barely showed up due to the numerous changes at pivot. Pretty hard to get your feet under you when your idiotic coach pulls you after two plays. Jones needs to get his collective shit together and soon.

9:54 in the 2nd Q and Winnipeg is rockin' the Lion's Den. They lead 14 - 0 - at the moment - make that 17 to zip. Matt Nicols hasn't had a great night - he's down for 1 interception, however he's also thrown some brilliant passes for big yards and, the Bombers' ground game rocks. Andrew Harris has been golden on the rush. The Winnipeg O line resembles a brick wall. And not to be left on the sidelines, Michael O'shea's play calling tonight has been pretty well on the money. After putting the last 3 points on the board via a 52-yard FG courtesy of Medlock, O'Shea called for a short kick from the Special Teams guys and caught the Lions' napping with an easy and legal catch by the Bombers to retain possession. It was a thing of beauty.

2:09 in the 2nd and the Bombers just had their first 2 and out of the night.

The Lions have been hit with 10 and 15 yard penalties way too often - one player is repeat offender. Lulay has not been consistent, his receivers have missed easy throws, there is no ground game and the Bomber D has been on top of them all night long. And the faces on the fans in the stands who are their for the Lions, pretty well says it all.

Rainey might just have sparked the Cats after a huge punt return with 1:40 left in the Q. But no, the Bomber D comes up with a huge play in the end zone to pop the ball loose and the clock runs out on the Lions comeback.........ahhhh.

Go Bombers.

Cats managed to claw their way back into the game early in the second half with a nice TD run followed in another series by a FG. They currently trail by a TD with just over 9 minutes to play in the 3rd.

Well, well, well................the Cats went on the prowl pouncing upon the Bombers late in the 4th and the game is tied with 1:53 left to play.

What a turn of events, BC just intercepted a pass from Nicols with 1:11 on th clock and they are a 1rst D away from FG range. Lulay just escapes have his pass intercepted. Lulay connects with Burnam at the 11 yard line...make that the 13 yard line. O'Shea is challenging for OPI on Burnam......there was a definite push-off by Burnam .......but not enough to overturn the ruling on the field. :11 and the FG team is on the field for the Lions. And the Lions win..........Wow.

Lions still aren't a very good team. Bombers gave that one away.

The Riders have traveled to Hamilton and are ready to take on the Cats in the second of their back-to-back games. The panel is still bleating about Carter's position as CB instead of being on the receiving end of the ball. Us Rider fans are wondering if we are going to see the same carousel of QBs tonight or will the Coach give Brandon the chance and time he needs. Inquiring minds really want to know.

On another note, Andy Fantuz announced his retirement from football at the game tonight. Sad news for us Rider fans who will always remember his winning TD in our last Grey Cup win. I can only wish Andy and his family which includes a new baby daughter, all the very best in the future - and thank him so much for all the wonderful memories. Bonne chance, Andy.

GO RIDERS!

17 - 7 for the Cats at the half. If it weren't for the D we wouldn't even be in this game. And yes, we are back to the QB carousel with no gain what-so-ever. The coaching sucks.
