Here is how anti-intellectualism is destroying America

https://www.rawstory.com/2018/06/anti-intellectualism-destroying-america/

thisi s a self induced self destructive process.......by choice.

(more trickle down effect from the top......who is a prime example of ANTI INTELLECTUALISM........and stupid talk... but that seems to be what "america wants now......

Fascinating sociological process happening in real time.

Do you personally believe that intellectualism is the building block of a nation? Or is it the, like you want to say, working stiff (anti-intellectual) that is actually doing the heavy lifting, and getting things done, in return just asking for a fair wage and job security? Or is it a little from column A and a lot from column B?

That isn't the point. It has nothing to do with social levels, or job levels...... but the general overall attitude to be informed, to keep learning, to expand one's personal horizons......regardless of "station" in life or job/ career. Vocabulary is but one , but very important one......component of a culture......and currently the example of poor vocabulary at the top is a contributing factor. If the example at the top is anti intellectual as is the case...... it is a poor example for a population. Leaders should be inspirational.

Trump asserts 'absolute right' to pardon himself but suggests he has not done anything wrong

President Trump said on Twitter that he has an absolute right to pardon his own federal crimes while saying he has no reason to do so because he has not engaged in any wrongdoing.

As has been stated by numerous legal scholars, I have the absolute right to PARDON myself, but why would I do that when I have done nothing wrong? Trump wrote.

ABSOLUTEE power is the name of Trump's game. ;-(

I am still willing to believe that it is Trump and his Tea Party leper base that are doing this.

It is not America or Americans.

On Sunday, Oregon Democratic Senator Jeff Merkley attempted to visit an immigration detention facility in Brownsville, Texas. His day began in McAllen, speaking with asylum seekers and looking for answers.
The Oregon Democrat said he wanted to speak to representatives of the immigration service regarding the new Trump administration policy to remove all minor children from their parents seeking asylum upon entry into the United States.
Merkley, who has served in the United States Senate since 2008, also wanted to tour a facility housing the children.

After Kim Kardashian meeting, Trump tells aides he is considering reprieve for Alice Marie Johnson as he becomes fixated on pardons

The pardon for Johnson, a 63-year-old woman serving a life sentence for a drug conviction, could come as early as Tuesday, and the paperwork was being finalized, according to a person familiar with the discussions. Trumps aides and associates see Kardashians celebrity imprimatur as crucial and alluring to the president.

But the potential pardon of Johnson has caused consternation in the West Wing, with top advisers including chief of staff John F. Kelly and White House counsel Donald McGahn disturbed by the process, according to two people familiar with the discussions
