Trade is not a zero-sum game. A country purchases what it needs/wants and sells what it's trade partner needs/wants. It's not a competition, ffs.

It's just simple supply and demand mathematics.

Trump's not "draining the swamp"... if anything, he's "training the swamp" with every new swamp creature he brings on board.

Ex-Goldman Sachs employees, billionaire oil barons, ex-banksters, lobbyist pundits, etc etc. If you think those people are joining his team to work in the best interest of the plebeians... then I've got a nice shiny bridge to sell you.

I just wanted you to know that I read your comments or reply to my "Magician" trip.

I'd like to ask a question:

How long (years) do you think it would take for the U.S. to pay off all its debt obligations? A thousand years? 2 thousand years?

For America to begin paying off its debt would mean no more deficits and a pay as you go from today onwards. If America buckled right down and got serious about paying off it's debt/liabilities, just how far would the standard of living need to drop so as to invest more into reducing liabilities?

I am thinking it would probably take between 2 and 5 thousand years to pay off the outstanding liabilities while still retaining the present standard of living. (Estimated Liabilities are about 500 Trillion dollars.)

Therefore ...... I think that any amount of time exceeding 250 years tells us quite plainly that the finance industry is a myth.

So you don't think Canadian brokers dumping Chinese steel in the U.S. through NAFTA has nothing to do with trade deficits

You know that a trade deficit is simply buying more stuff than you're selling, right ? That's all it means.

Did the US accidentally buy chinese steel over and above their agreed purchase amount with Canada ? How does chinese steel (specifically) cause a US trade deficit with Canada ?

Is Canada selling nothing but cheap chinese steel to the US and keeping all the good stuff for ourselves ?

Do you think the small amount of chinese steel that got pawned off to the US has somehow caused a deficit with Canada and made us a national security threat ?

Or do you think Trump is just posturing and using Canada as his scapegoat gateway to go after China ?

Rather than throwing out empty threats of 'Trade Wars' the G7 should come to the realization that the West is in a Sea Change.. a Civilizational Shift.. as likely only happens every 250 years of so. The last was the onset of the Enlightenment.

This will go far beyond the the Economic Nationalism, but it will start with that and go on to revitalize Culture from the exhausted tenets of the New Age.. post-nationalism, free markets, libertarianism, atheistic humanism, radical individualism, moral relativism.. that has taken over Western Civilization and is too diffuse and unsubstantive to support its continuation. In fact it is leading it to its catastrophic dissolution.

Especially inane in all this blustering has been the grovelling spectacle of Justin whining about betrayal of its great 'friend and ally'. Well the overriding rule in the jungle of Global Free Market Capitalism is 'survival of the fittest' and 'protect thyself'. Something for which he has not the moxy or wherewithal.

Trump is very canny in decoupling Geostrategic issues from Trade. The process of the last 50 years of selling out American workers for concessions and alliances in support of the projection of American influence and power in the world has led to little but the bankruptcy of American manufacturing.

There's really been no upside. Its only gotten the U.S. entangled in costly, futile foreign conflicts. Woodrow Wilson's doctrine of 'Making the World Safe for Democracy' as its moral obligation has lost all credibility. It is a floundering in contradiction and ulterior motives. The world is no safer nor democratic since the onset of this imperial dogma of America 'the Good'.

So, i think we should realize the Trump is the avant garde of revolutinary change in the West. One that will sweep away the jaded political establishments. And it will sweep away Justin Trudeau.

Both Canada and the US have the same steel and aluminium tarrifs on the same sources. If it is still entering the US through Canada (funneling) who failed? Canada or the US? Should Trump have sat by and let it through?

This will be the 4th time I've linked to the Canadian version of the tarrifs that are identical to the tarrifs Obama enacted and Trump renewed.

They are almost a decade old.
