Here's some of what we should ban:

Plastic coffee pods.

Those plastic dental picks with the little bow of floss strung at one end. Not only do they fill up land fills, they are effing disgusting to encounter out in the environment. My most revolting encounter was having a used one stare up at me from the counter at a Tim Hortons where they put the little baggies with pastries down white you're paying for them.

Plastic water bottles are filling our oceans because gas and oil companies are polluting our water ways and aquifers.

No, people are.

Have your verbal fun till the day you have to throw away your toxic computers.

Mine are all built from stuff other people already threw in the garbage, so I am in a different class.

Really? So where the hell are the bottlers getting the water then? Plastic water bottles are filling our oceans because there are millions of morons out there who've convinced themselves that bottled water is by default, better quality water than their municipal supply.
You know what's really funny? Seeing the plastic waste left behind after a bunch of "environmentalists" hold a protest/demonstration.

America throws out 50 million plastic straws per day.

I imagine they do. One does not keep straws. But they serve a purpose of allowing one to drink their drink in their car or while moving about and are a great convenience. I am sure we can do wonders for our environment if everybody gave up all their conveniences. But life would not be too convenient.

Perhaps the a-s-s-holes who are dumping them in the ocean may also be to blame.

My GF just said over my shoulder, try drinking a beverage without a straw, when you are wearing lipstick...or give a kid a drink without a lid and a straw, and just stand there and wait with a rag and a change of clothes.
try walking around with an armful of lunch and a drink with no lid.

I recycle mine. Every computer I have ever owned has been given to someone when I upgrade.

Yes that's a good plan. It's also financial aid to those in need that they can use as well.
It's amazing what happens to the price of the old ram, and the replacement processors, and the drives it takes to get some older machines up to speed.

I have a powered harness so I keep all my old hard drives separately as storage backup too.

I guess some here don't know that the chinese are no longer taking this type of garbage and there is a problem now with ALL OF IT.

The plastic straw is relatively new. For the first 4000 years or so of human civilization they were made out of paper or, as the name suggests, organic materials like straw. We can still have straws, but let's just make then out of something that doesn't last a couple of thousand years.

There are so many alternatives to plastic straws so it just makes sense to stop using them.

But instead of banning, this is the perfect opportunity to use carbon pricing as an incentive.

Right...so if you are going to use that to influence straws that don't contribute to "global warming" you are betraying the real agenda for that tax:

Tyrannical nazicommieglobaluist dicktations to the slaves.

Of course also, like the way crime goes up when you take away the guns, (like the way London just passed NEW YORK ) then we will for certain, just get more pollution from whatever YOU propose.

PS, we need the paper trees as carbon sinks don't we....****a$$?

I use to use Twizzlers, but the sugar, man. I could live without straws, I don't have much use for them, except for the odd Caesar.

But instead of banning, this is the perfect opportunity to use carbon pricing as an incentive.

Yes, because carbon taxes do nothing for the environment and that makes some environmentalists very happy.

Let's just paint all the straws green and put a catchy logo on the side.

At a rate of 50 million uses per day, I can think of no better solution than a plastic straw that is recyclable. The health risks from glass reusable straws would not be worth it.

I really don't understand the problem, when I toss out a drink cup, the lid and straw always go into the recyclables bin. Then someone melts it down and makes a pill bottle or patio furniture.
