I don't think the reason has been made public.

But it is a fact that acting on behalf of a client (paying off the porn star) without their knowledge is something that you cab be disbarred for in New York state.

Michael Cohen Asks Judge to Shield Trump Files From Prosecutors

A lawyer representing Mr. Trump’s interest in the case also appeared, and asked a judge to order the Justice Department to temporarily delay looking at the files until the matter could be litigated. “Those searches have been executed and the evidence is locked down. I’m not trying to delay,” Joanna C. Hendon, an attorney for Mr. Trump, said during the hearing on Friday. “I’m just trying to ensure that it’s done scrupulously.”
Mr. Cohen wants his lawyers to be able to review the files and withhold privileged material before prosecutors can see them. As an alternative, he asked that an independent lawyer be allowed to review the files first. A judge postponed any decision until a follow-up hearing Monday.

I'm wondering if we are getting too wound up over the foibles of the Donald! There are at least a dozen (probably a lot more) on his forum alone who are obsessing over disasters that might occur due to activities of the Donald, when so far none have happened. Living like this is neither normal or wise. Donald is a "Prince" when compared to the likes of Kadaffy, Amin, Mugabbe and Hussein. We should be ecstatic about that and quit the worrying and whining. In close to 500 days the sky has not budged one iota. There's more to life than this shit!

Comey is right about one thing (from the book ) when he describes the Trump style as MOB style of management / persona.
