It would appear that most Americans are NOT looking at this tariff situation with a total/ comprehensive view.......and what the consequences might be to them. They see it as a tit for tat superficial tactic.

Not sure they comprehend how a trade war would affect them. Trump is selling them a bill of goods ..........and they are not reading the fine print.

If a trade war between the US and the rest of the world costs the US X and the rest of the world X, the difference is that the US and one country must bear the burden of its cost whereas all of the other countries can share the burden of their cost between each other. You will have to explain how getting a brake job is going to suddenly have an extra $50 in taxes on it.
Also try to explain why the rich should pay more than their equal share.

Will American voters hate the Chinese more than Trump during the upcoming Mid-Term elections or when Trump runs for a second term as the economy takes a hit from this tariff stint?

I'm sort of hoping that the U.S. economy takes a strong hit because of Trump and his tariffs because it will change the voting pattern presently showing a conservative in the lead in Ontaro's Provincial election.

If the hit on the U.S. economy is brutal, people will become more concerned about existing social programs and begin to see Doug Ford in a different light. I agree that the timeline is kinda short because the tariffs won't be in place prior the Ontario election.
