I don't know how to take this. I know he's a Sikh, but he's a Canadian and a politician. Rather than worrying about something that happened in India years ago, worry about what's happening in the present here. Let India deal with it.

I have to wonder if he is playing to Sikhs in Canada for more votes. No doubt, if Justin gets wind of this, he'll offer to apologize on behalf of Canada, and we had nothing to do with it. This seems to be the way of things.

Politicians are supposed to be concerned with what is happening in their country now, and try to improve the lives of people here.

Jagmeet Singh wants Canada to declare anti-Sikh violence in India during 1980s a genocide
By Mia Rabson - The Canadian Press

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh says Canada should declare that anti-Sikh violence that took place in India more than three decades ago was a genocide.

Singh – who spent much of this week defending himself following the emergence of several videos showing him appearing at various events where others promoted Sikh independence and violence – says there is clear evidence attacks on Sikhs by Hindus which followed the assassination of prime minister Indira Gandhi in 1984 were not spontaneous, but rather organized by government.

Gandhi was assassinated by her Sikh bodyguards a few months after Sikh separatists who had barred themselves inside the Golden Temple in Amritsar were killed in a military assault. The Air India bombing in 1985 was carried out in reaction to the temple attack and the post-assassination violence.

Sure, why not and declare the terrorist bombing of the Air India flight a genocide in the same sentence.

Keep your tribal conflicts out of this country and out if our politics, thank you very much.

I don't know how to take this...
He just decided that hundreds of innocents were in fact murdered by terrorist fanatics bombing Air India planes and is trying to both

-deflect attention from his long time support for terrorists causes

-show his co-religionists that he's still 'on their side'
Sure, why not and declare the terrorist bombing of the Air India flight a genocide in the same sentence.
That'll be the Day!
Keep your tribal conflicts out of this country and out if our politics, thank you very much.
I'm not disagreeing but Good Luck with that.
What the hell happened to the NDP?
Hijacked by a mob who worship terrorists.

He's going to chase votes away. Sikhs might vote for him, but others will turn away.

Singh is a real idiot.
I agree, we let this scum bag into this country to build Canada not India.

If he had any respect for Canada, the country that gave him a life and an opportunity, he would be asking for the Indian people to apologize to Canada for bringing their terrorist garbage with them when they came to Canada.

Canada has a lot of great immigrants, but most leave their garbage in their old country when they come here. Indians on the other hand seem to like to bring their garbage ways with them when they come here.

He has a lot to learn about being the leader of a party. I wonder if the party exec have said anything to him? I guess we'll never know.
