Self-driving cars will leave 'THIRD of population JOBLESS' as AI sparks MASS UNEMPLOYMENT
A THIRD of the population faces sickening unemployment because of self-driving cars, a damning prediction reveals.
Vehicles that transport people using artificial intelligence are on course to become a frequent sight on our roads.
But if they are thrust into the mass market and prove popular, an expert has warned they will wreak havoc on the global economy.
Professor in Computer Engineering, Dr Subhash Kak, believes a third of jobs will be lost soon after their introduction.
It comes after his bombshell prediction, given to this website, that AI will "sink the world into unemployed despair" in a hellish "dystopia", because humans will be put out of work.

But the machines will also eliminate jobs at welfare too ( hey BOOMer!), so the savings should be huge.

People who want third world jobs can always move to the US.
automation is obviously going to eliminate a lot of jobs. it always has. the hope is that a general prosperity occurs which creates new demand for new products and services. especially services.

No worries, the displaced workers will be kept busy cleaning up after all the resulting accidents, including funeral directors and undertakers, doctors and nurses.
P.S. I'm already starting to rethink this given the number of lousy drivers we presently have on the roads.
I would hazard a guess the accidents will go down once the human drivers (some of which are a tad too old to be driving) are removed from the road.

you do realize that black smiths make over 100k per year. So do stain glass technicians. the sooner they lay off more tv repairmen, you can finally get what you've always thought you were worth.

News report today in Gopherland - rail ridership is at 25 million this past year. Electric rail system has been a success and continues to grow in popularity. There are calls for expansion of rails & bus systems, though no calls (at present) for trolleys.
