When PET left office he pretty much left public life. He was a private and withdrawn individual - his younger party days aside. As he aged he seemed to mellow. I think his early upbringing in the Jesuit tradition informed his entire life, and most especially his older age.

I am sure that P.E.T. would be quite proud, overall, but I doubt that he would approve of how our P.M. puts non-Canadians ahead of Canadians.

What passes for conservatives in Canada is pretty much centerist. It is just that the left is so far out in left field it makes a centrist seem right wing.
I do not see it that way.
Extreme left, to me, would be like Obama was when he could not put Islam or Muslims in the same sentence with the words Jihadists or terrorist.
That political correctness is what put Trump in office, do I do agree with you that if one goes too far to the left, the right reacts by going too far to the right.
Politicians should use the 80-20 rule so as to stay away from the most extreme of the wings.
That is hard to do sometimes.
