This could be a conversation in 1910 about why cars will never replace horses.

IT will happen. If it makes you more comfortable to imagine that it will take generations to happen then that's fine.

Personally I doubt gas powered vehicles will survive much more than 20 years - and that is being generous.

You sure dance around the direct issues when brought up.

So, exactly when do you believe that your dream of the individual-power-generation-per-building-and-limitless-electricity-storage-capacity will actually be in place , operating and have displaced oil?

I highlighted the important bit for ya in the hopes that you might be able to focus.

I don't think when is a very important question beyond the fact that it is a primitive and highly flawed technology.

Utility scaled power generation is 19th century thinking. It will be dispatched as quickly as we can manage it - and it's a given that many people with financial interests will oppose it at every step along with their chorus of luddites who oppose every form of scientific advance on general principle.

So kinda like the promise back in the 50's that there would be moon colonies and flying cars by the 60's

Thanks for coming out, lemme see if Vanna has a consolation prize for ya

I would compare it to the promise in the 1960s that someday computers would be in every house and do all sorts of things.

Who ever believed in that nonsense?

Obviously science does not advance.

Is that what I said?

Wouldn't the very fact that computers have arrived and now facilitate every aspect of our lives including education, technology and science actually accelerate our ability to create change?

Sounds like you don;t listen very well and have no real interest in this topic beyond expressing your doubt that science exists or that humans are capable of change.

BTW 90% of the PV generated today - whether farms or roof top - is introduced into a common grid.

So the concept of large scale power generation is not immediately threatened and you have no pressing need to fear it.

Ummmm, kinda important here, dontcha think?

Was it important to know when electricity would replace candles for household lighting?

Wasn't simply understanding that it was a better idea enough to convince you that it was going to happen?

Its a conspiracy!!!!

The oil industry have intentionally made battery technology not advanced enough to compete against gasoline powered cars. :).
Well you just lost all credibility

I would shoot myself if I thought I had any credibility with you.

btw I do not predict the end of oil I only predict the end of gasoline as the major fuel for common transportation.

oil is still going to be a product that is widely used for many things. We just have to get past internal combustion engines and on to alternate fuel and technology.

I look forward to buying a electric car in 20 years.

I can see it now. Retired, kids out of the house, great looking electric car on my front parking space.

In 20 years, we ought to have these by then

I'm pretty sure that Hoid has his on pre-order

The concept a car not fueled by gasoline seems like some sort of magic to you.

I sort of feel like I am explaining a steam engine to a cave man.

You’re obviously frustrated by the lack of progress made to achieve electric cars.

The real issue lies in the lack of market support helping develop the technology advances in baby steps due to gas cars already being available.

Gas cars being already available is a conspiracy

Technology advances in small increments each year. Without a market to buy the product each year its difficult to fund the technological advancement

Well said. In this case, the technology is not up to par with the current, existing products in terms of servicing the needs of the public

... The same reason that the flying carpet car never caught on

heehehehe
